Only the motorpool guys know for sure...it's anybody's guess. We could give you some, but that's all they'd be. Could be that the truck is a '66 overhauled in '86 but...???
I don't know how you could speculate that the ring gear is intact without seeing it. It is made of a softer metal than the worm gear, I would guess it would have deformed badly BUT without pics that is only a guess.
I wouldn't be re-using that worm gear either, I don't think.
What did you use to paint the springs? I've always wondered if it would be worth it to take them apart or just paint them in place. Seems like no matter which, the paint would crack off from all the flexing.
It's looking great!
Winch
PTO
PTO shift lever assembly
drive shaft
bumper extensions and frame rails to set the bumper further out and mount the winch
plus a bunch of bolts, the most expensive being the shouldered bolts that actually mount the winch to the frame (12 of them)
I think I found the page you are referring to: http://olive-drab.com/od_mvg_markings.php
I'm still trying to figure out what my truck's original markings would have been (1971) for the (Kentucky nat'l guard) unit it was in:
103RD CS BN CO B MAINT

If money is not a problem (and it sounds like maybe it isn't) you can just buy a new airpack. http://www.memphisequipment.com/PartsDetail.aspx?id=10000259
(Memphis is just one parts dealer, I'm sure others have them)
Again re the window seals: do they go in flange-up like this or flange down? Again they are not even mentioned in the TM.
NEVERMIND--found the answer in a different TM
TM 9-2320-361-20
11-5. CAB DOOR Glass AND WEATHERSEAL REPLACEMENT
Flange goes UP as pictured.
I've read the procedure in the TM 3 times now (9-2320-209-34-2-2) and nowhere does it mention the window seal that fits inside the top of the door, with the little clips that pop into the holes in the door. Does this seal go in BEFORE or AFTER the window glass is installed?
Also, anyone have a...
Looking at jason's 2nd pic above, does the gun ring mount (2 pieces) both go BEHIND that little flange of the dash board sticking out, or does one go in front of it and one behind it, sandwiching it?
I think they both go behind it but didn't take pics of this particular thing when I took it...
I've never bought off-road fuel but the deuce I parted out, that I got from Ft. Knox, had red diesel in it. That was over a year and a half ago and I still have a jug of it (I work on my deuce more than drive it).
I thought the PTO was actually easier than the winch. By the way, you can insert the shaft after everything else is on but you have to slide it apart to do so.
Ha ha the coop cleaning was easy, predictable, and no surprises! I got the result I expected from the effort put in. Wish I could say the same for the deuce!
RE bleeding I would honestly say try it again. The first time I bled my brakes I ended up with a soft pedal. It sat for a few days and...
Update: I got all the correct fittings at AirHydro, and my airpack is reinstalled. BUT when I'm trying to bleed the system, the Master Cylinder is leaking at the cap. I took the copper washer out and sanded it a little but no dice, it is still leaking when I pressurize the system. So I need to...
