Engine components are designed with extra strength, also known as a 'safety factor'. I don't know what the LD/LDT/LDS rods can 'take' but I'm sure it's more than 100rpm over the no-load governed speed. I'll bet it is more like 1000rpm over.
Below is some info on Pontiac rods. There is a...
This system is not the same as the deuce engine but may provide some folks here some ideas. Not sure where to post but the discussion seems to be here now. Suggestions on my OT welcome. PM me or blurt it out.
When I replaced the hydraulic pump on Betty, the dirty old hoe, I added a large...
Clinto, one possible answer?
I just added a danger sticker. With great care I put it 100rpm too high. Worse, the view from the driver seat seemed to add another 100rpm. Moving it and messed up the end so I placed it low then trimed end, from seat, for 2600. JimK
Great pic! I see you had medical support ready. My neighbor Dave P. just swapped a M1009(?)for a Goat. He drove it over the other day and let me try it. What a trip. Have you seem the cheesy army instructional video (with the unhappy ending)? JimK
The LDS-465-1 has a no-load high speed governer setting of 2850-2900rpm. This is not the same as the red-line. The rated power is listed in the LDS troubleshooting manual at 170-185 at 2600rpm. The output chart, and other text from this publication(avail in SS resources, my hard copy, dated June...
Big rigs often use 2 large in parallel. Since they get regular service I'd guess the pair may be more for the surface area/cold oil/ press differential issue, than filters 'clogged' with dirt. Commercial trucks do range far and wide, often into very cold climates. The 06' Mack I drive has a...

p.s.
Oil on ground, not on tread suggests was not moved, and w/building beyond ?? Glasses in cab?? Maybe not a range.
What's about the gun??
Under certain conditions the volume will increase with rpm. Also, the differential may be high when filter is partially loaded and/or the oil is cold. I do worry about the latter. There may(?) also be a moment of bypass when oil first arrives at empty filters.
Bypass valves serve a few...
If mine sits about a week it took, at idle, about 20 seconds. I say 'took' because last night I added an accumulator to try and correct this. Other are using prelubers, or discussing the prelube issue in a different thread.
Mine also gets quieter after gauge takes off. It did this before the...
also - the LDS fuel delivery is about 33% higher than the LD. With more air and fuel it rates about 40% more power.
The LDS pins are hollow, the LD/LDT pins are solid. I'd guess the lighter pin would go with heavier/stronger pistons, however the LDS troubleshooting manual says pins are...
Page 53/54- LDS troubleshooting manual: The machined type upper valve spring retainer... were used on the LDS-427-2 engine, then on the LDS-465-1...is subject to failure when overspeeding... causing extensive damage...As a result the machined retainer has been replaced by a new stamped type...
Thanks George. A simple 3/8 pipe-5/8 tube fitting will do. I'm going over to put a system together now - if I can get away from this ?%#!*& web site. System couldn't be much simpler to install. I expect my 3 qt accumulator to fall short so may fab a remote air reservoir to boost capacity to 3.9...

[Vehicles- All] ... With Maximum Payload and Towed Load - 45mph, With maximum Payload only - 56MPH
Connecting rod stress increases exponentially with RPM's. The reversal at TDC is hard on rods, and rod bolts. They're in tension where metal is weakest. Handling...
You may be able to get more tire life with the next higher load range, or use the correct load range if they are wrong, (example - load range E, or 10 ply instead of D's). With singles I'd say find the highest LR possible. Use the max press and fill cold. Make sure the wheels can handle the...
The actual temperature may vary. Flash point measures differently depending on the method used - closed cup or open cup. F.P. is legally required to be above 100.4*F(38*C) USA, 104*F(40*C) Canada, and 131*F(55*C) Europe [all closed cup]. Additives have an effect...
