Most paint will not survive. I have found ,and as has been started here, Rustoleum BBQ Black is better than most. Eastwood has a 'Stainless steel coating' for exh. parts that is very good . It has survived on my GTO's exh. manifolds for 15 years.
The inside surfaces are protected by carbon...
To add a bit to red devils dude's comment. I have heard that the LDS pistons are stronger [than LD/LDT's] to handle the hight boost the LDS's bigger turbo generates. The troubleshooting manual states that there are solid wrist pins and hollow pins.It said that both types can be used in all three...
Hi Dave,
Looks like you paid your dues. Looks super. Chuck's M8 too. Before + after pics are fun...
Cargo bay is 8'W x 13'L (ID). There's a few feet more above the radiator,a few feet less because of the crane. Maybe we could put it in upside down? Rated capacity is 4tons (marine) though...
Exhaust manifold is the same. Cranetruck wrote a very nice article for MVMag (Dec02').I can e-mail it if nec.Files are .jpg(x8)size 2meg. John's kits are nice. They have the real deal exhaust J, not the sloppy aftermarket piece I have. JimK

Nice job,I did the same thing though not quite so nicely. It has been around for 15years now and is still used all the time. It is best way i have to move a 24' staging pic(extending over both front and back, and on top of back door) Just posted some pics in trailer...
In the mid 80's I used many Ford 8000 single axle tractors with the 3208. Head gasket failures were a problem, however the radiators being used were rather old and only two row core.JimK
Yea, plasma the best way. Torches, like stick and MIG, the operator needs to study the behavior and make adjustments as needed. Just looking at the work[done] tells a lot. I find thin stuff a pain and for demolition just butcher away.I find anything over 1/8 can be done very neatly(fab). I use...
More stuff,
Cadmium, as in plated fasteners and parts, is -very- toxic too(death). Manganese, used in many steels, can cause permanent nervous system damage(arc welding rod have it too). Cutting tips need to be cleaned often (with small reamers) to get the best, and cleanest cut. The preheat...
Tired from work so apologies if this seems snotty or disrespectful.
Nice read, but rather misleading.
The article defines overcharging, and it's consequences, but only at one level ,an extreme. Conclusions are based on this worst case scenario: "must frequently rotate batteries...".
It...
My experience running an 11T equipment trailer w/electric brakes - there is no problems in using 12V off one bat. 1000+ miles now. This includes a 600+ mile trip (1/2 at night - lights...). The bat(s) I am using are the ones that came with it.They are old and VERY small. They don't hold a...
My thought too.Make sure they are bleed. You can test each caliper's pressure by making screw in tester .Join a cheap 3000psi gage and a old bleeder screw.750psi-1500 normal.
Brakes disks require more force that drums (drums self energize). The area of the piston(s) determines force(and ,of...
