I like to use the polyarmor from American grease stick , it comes in straight sticks with nut and flares or rolls. You can get it at Oreillys or auto zone.
I'm replacing a set on one of my trucks that I did 15-20 years ago. Almost didn't after getting the hub off and taking a quick look at it , but after a closer look I found a small hole and the start of some dry rot. The bad was when I took the other side a part and found a rusted outer bearing...
Well back it out of the shop yesterday under its own power for the first time in 11 years. It started right up with no problem after sitting all that time. Just no brakes. Going to run it and flush the radiator and move back in to the shop for an oil change and fuel filters and new front axle...
The rusty metal primer needs rust to stick good. For the aluminum tank I'd use this https://www.rustoleum.com/product-catalog/consumer-brands/stops-rust/flat-aluminum-primer It's made for aluminum.
To get that out you would have to cut a hole in the side of the truck. It would be easier to get the bolts out. Unless someone knows more than me , and I hope they do because I need to do the same thing to one of my trucks
In theory yes it should hold air indefinitely. In the real world no. If it leaks down over night no big deal. But if it leaks down in minutes or hour then I'd worry about it.
You can get new "cage nuts" from Fastenal or McMaster carr . They are better as they let the nut move a little to line up easier , where as a nut welded directly to the body can move. Just my 2cents.

Is there any adjustment for the air cylinder?? Mine seem to be engaged with no air. The case is out of the truck on a stand and I just put it all back together. It's on it back so maybe the weight of the sprag assy is over coming the spring????? Or I screwed something else up .
The M200 trailer was a 2 1/2 ton trailer with the same axle as the M105 but with dual wheels. No bed just frame mostly use for generators. So dual on a M105 should work. Not sure if this helps or not. Be sure to post pic's when you are done , we'd love to see them.
Man that looks great!!!! Thank's for following up.
I see you have a nice litter rack rails on the floor:drool:. Could you post up the dimensions of those and a pic of the end??? Thanks.
