I just had the 831 running in 5deg with a wind chill of 0 had lost power for a few hours yesterday and between them turn sections on and off I was in and out. Figured I would stay on generator so at least the furnace and fridge ran. Was able to run the tv and modem. It was topped out at 2700kw...
So I’m definitely narrowing it down to an 803 or 802. With the 831 I can cover any 1-3 day issues. The times I’ve needed it we’re not to hot out and I just cooked in the grill in the summer.

Ok so to answer you questions.
Over the past 2 years we have lost power about a full weak each year. That’s on an off longest eas last year for 3 days. Usual it’s a day head and there. My grid power runs through the woods and we are the last to be fixed.
12kw would be to have all my...
Oh ok. I’ll make sure to get drop hitch and flip it around the 4Runner is about 3 inches lower at the hitch then f150. I’m going to grab a trailer to just to have some night reading. The most I’ve towed was. 3600 and it did alright. I’ll look up what they weigh.

Very interesting it’s interesting that you got 10k hours. That beyond any thing I’ll ever need and I’m sure a lot cheaper to maintain then the mil sets. That would be a fun winter project to build my own gen set.
Ok ok so build one 5-7k and buy a mep803 just because. You know my wife’s going...
Thanks kloppk that’s exactly what I wanted to see. I still have to get one of your conversion kits for the 831 so when my inverter dies I can switch it over.

It’s not a bad idea on a trailer. Hummm I’m going to take a look at gov planet and eBay. How well do the m116 trailers hook up to an suv? That would be cool the more I think about it.
On the power side I’ve had concerns about “clean” power. That the whole reason I didn’t get a generac was...
I know that smell Al lot well ever time I change the filter on my oil tank and furnace. Takes weeks to leave the basement even with pig wipe and a stainless bucket…

Wow they made a 10kw air cooled diesel gen set. That’s really cool that’s kinda the reason I liked the 831 low maintenance. If the inverter wasn’t such a finicky thing it would be a solid unit.

I would do a slab and have considered it. I just wanted a cool under ground area. As childish as it is. What will end my decision is the extra cost to poor that area.
