Notice the clutch is broken. That is how hard the rear glass was winding up and down. This rusty hunk fell out from the rear side while I was tapping and blowing in the rear gate hinge area. ???? Another rainy day cancelled my day of work on the Weasel. This is usually the condition of the...
This my first attempt to post pictures from my iPhone. If this works I am not going to be posting pictures all the time. This is one of the outer axle U joints. One side is OK the other is tight. Very tight. I replace them in pairs. I think I found the tight one. I pressed out and replaced all...
If it were mine, I would undo the resistor bypass. That is me. I have privately been driving a CUCV since 1995 and never did that bypass. I have owned many. Never needed to and never had cascading glow plugs or burnt wiring. I maintain the trucks I have and fix things as I see them happening. I...
At the cost of ATF, I would first remove the 30MM fill nut from the transfer case with a catch pan right there. It flows out I would stop and seek expert services on the transmission and transfer case. If you keep running it ill, it will cost even more to fix. Broken case or whatever else goes...
And yes that will be part of the glow plug system. The other sensor is at the rear of the passenger's side head. It is behind the last glow plug and has 2 wires.
The broken socket is getting traded for a new one. I know that socket did a lot of tough work over the past 40+ years. But all good things must come to an end just like the wild wood weed.
Last night I made my cardboard cut outs as close to size as possible to close all the window openings. I...
I am back in and have accomplished my goals for the weekend. The gate is on and adjusted as good as I can get it. I did have to use a few shims in the lower under side of the hinge to get the right side of the gate down a bit. The entire M1009 is DA sanded and hand sanded. This is the look...
Yesterday and today, I was able to make great progress. I had a minor setback when I was unable to loosen or tighten any of my 1/2" bolts and was perplexed as to what was the issue. This is a Matco 3/4" socket I have been using for over 40 years. That was the problem. I threw away a few bolts...
check your transfer case. I have had oil from the transmission go back and over fill the transfer case. I sent it to an Automatic Transmission shop and had it repaired and had them service the transmission and adjust the shift points. It worked perfect after that. Somethings I am not so willing...
I do like the look of the painted Line X on the m1009 tailgate and cover. Oh, that's right you can't see it. The CARC did a fantastic job. And I had CARC on my M1009 Mule floor as the primary floor covering and it wore well after several years of use, I hardly had any wear marks at the driver's...
The Wild Weasel has not been very cooperative when it comes to making progress. The rear gate was full of nasty things and even after I stripped it out, I could not get the rear hinges to open and close without great effort. I removed the gate and am working the hinges with heat 3 in 1 oil and a...
Last night I was home in time and the weather was just right. I set up my gate and gate cover outside and went in the barn and mixed the green CARC. I washed both parts thoroughly with DX330 wax and grease remover and applied several nice even coats to the parts. I squeezed the can and used...
CARC paint will stick to just about anything. It will paint a wad of grease and dry. It won't adhere to metal under the grease, but it will shell up and dry on the grease.
