Yeah I wondered that. Maybe they are just tired of the ambiguity, or someone new came in and realized they had a habit of doing something that wasn't strictly speaking (in their view) legal, and they want it cleaned up.
Haha that's priceless. It did fine down to PHX obviously, couldn't even tell it was there. Just wondering what their logic was. Then again there is no way these things "only" hold 2 1/2 tons on highway...
Ah sure enough. Now I have a rad cover on the way. Still a mystery how the grill cover goes on. I am imagining some kind of unobtanium straps that go... somewhere
The A1 -10 exists as a PDF. Just not the rest. Sooner or later someone will print them to PDF from whatever magical software they dwell in I suppose.
Awesomeness, it sounds like you have the radiator cover? Where'd you get it? Do you have a picture?
Thanks for correcting me - it is just what the guy told me. That said, I looked them up and might be worth retrofitting one. That's a good tip about the rain.
I do NOT want to have hydraulic problems ever again!
Rusty's thread asking around about the deuce arctic cover got me thinking. I have a NOS grill cover for my M1078 I got from somewhere. Maybe superman, I don't know. Anyways the thing has some grommet holes towards the corners and button snaps everywhere and otherwise no obvious way to attach it...
Man, one of those things wouldn't hurt my feelings for my LMTV. I use 20 ton bottle jacks now, and a lot of cribbing, but it kind of sucks because the 20 tons don't really have the throw you'd want so it can get kind of mickey mouse when you are doing it on soft ground.
My left rear blinker was intermittent and then finally gave up the ghost. Tail light seems to work fine. I haven't checked the brake light yet but I will as soon as I have a person to look at it. I thought that this was just a defective light unit or a bad ground until I realized it's not...
No, not that. And funny enough the air pump for the hydraulic pump feeds off the wet tank (AFAIK). No, on the air hydraulic power pack located under the chemical detector mount (integral with the reservoir for the cab lift/tire life/suspension hydraulic system components) is an air desiccant...
The cab latch o-ring is "1-1/8 Inch I.D. X 1-3/8 Inch O.D. X 1/8 Inch Thick" and you can get it anywhere. National has it as #216. Oreilly's or napa or whatever will have it or equiv.
Everything you could want to know about rebuilding the power pack is here, including how to source the seals...
I mentioned this on another thread but since then I had a hydro guy look over the truck and he pointed out the filters on the tanks are desiccant traps to dry the air going into the tank. The desiccant wears out and needs to be replaced regularly - I doubt many of us are doing that. I certainly...
They probably figure that if every tom, dick, and harry calls them up and only ever orders 1 or 2 little things, they'll lose money. These are companies accustomed to monetizing huge contracts, not over the counter sales. If OP showed up and wanted 2000 gauges I bet it would be a different story...
I've mentioned some of this before in different threads but I thought I would summarize it here. There are a lot of great threads about the FMTV hydraulic system, but these are some less common tidbits.
-= Corrosion =-
My manifold and pump were badly corroded; the valves so bad that eventually...
