I've always understood it to be that mixing oil weights is not harmful. Your weight just comes out to be somewhere in between. They probably used whatever weight they were putting in the engines for the climate. That said, I'd probably put in whatever the TM says.
You could walk, you know. It's far more fuel efficient, you will get where you are going eventually, and you don't have to worry over the failure of anything electronic OR mechanical. Just heart disease and cancer.
"they just work" right until they don't. You've taken apart carbs right? Wait...
That's a great question. In the case of the transmission, IMO it makes the truck easier to drive which means I am more confident when I want some friend to pull a shift in the truck. And I prefer it a lot. I spent enough time driving Unimogs through I-90 memorial day traffic in Washington and up...
I have a 3116 in my M1078 and if the engine fairy came along one night and swapped it out for a C7, adding the ECU and all, I wouldn't shed a single tear. I don't understand how in 2017 we can still be having the reliability debate about ECU, electronics, and engine advancements in general...

Nice. My vent controls are screwed up (stuck on full heat, but fan control works). I could go in there and fix them but then I could buy one of those NOS HVAC setups like you did and gain the A/C side... but I am not interested in dealing with A/C right now. From the looks of yours, do you think...
One of my old goodyears was dry rotted so bad it'd probably have gone on the way up to Prescott to get that M1082. I swear a couple of the knobbies were bubbling, and it was cracked all over. It was marginal when I parked it in the summer after I brought the truck down from Seattle. Got busy...
It took me until this long to get around to it, but I did this morning. Rolled into Purcell, no appointment, and they took good care of me. The guy were grinning while they worked on it, I think they were just happy to see something different for a change.
