    Trailer from cargo bed

These are some photos of the conversion. The large box is a maintenance tent. 32 x 24 x15 with 12 ft side walls. The lights on both the trailer and the trailer bed work together so as not to cause confusion for tailgaters. The bed lights are plugged into the trailer for easier dismount of the...

    Trailer from cargo bed

Yes, I mounted a 20-ft long aluminum 5-ton truck bed on a an MT-2000 20 Ft container hauler. I tow it with an M923. The tires are 235 x 85R16 G. It makes a great hay wagon. It has drop down sides and rides low. The brakes are all air. I made rails fro the bed so that it attached with eight bolts...

    Mep-003A Ice Storm Runaway Engine

I have a new MEP-003 Onan motor in the crate...new...not rebuilt and the IP is installed. Just a note...I never run my MEP-003s less that full throttle (1800 rpm) give or take a few due to outside air temp, air pressure, and altitude. I do not spool it either up or down slowly except when fine...

M1009 Won't start in 20 degrees and under

I installed an electric fuel pump at the tank. During the glow plug warm-up, I flip the switch for the electric pump. I leave it running during the cranking phase and leave it running until the glow plug system stops cycling. Pressure, pressure, pressure. However, much below 20 F and standard...

    Replace or Rebuild M1028 axle?

I have not checked recently but Coleman's Surplus at one time sold new in the crate axles for these trucks for under a $1000.

    flatbed military trailer

This is the MT2000 trailer that I purchased out of Ft Meade four years ago. It is a 20-foot container trailer. However, I mounted a removable 20-foot aluminum bed with drop down sides on it. I removed the twenty folding seats but kept the ability to use the tarp and bows on the trailer. It makes...

    M105A2 electric over hydraulic actuator

You are going to be disappointed the day you discover the M105A3. Until you do, here was my solution. I still use it to haul my 30 KW gen set http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?68176-Trailer-Air-Brakes-for-a-Heavy-Duty-Pickup

Va Rally at Graves Mountain (Labor Day Weekend) 2013

I will be there. Bringing a couple of medium tow bars (new), two 20 ft. NATO jumper cables (new), a 24-volt fan (new), a 24-volt impact wrench (used), and a complete solar battery tender and desulfater (new).

    What's are 105a3 going for?

I own ten of the M105A3s as we use them on the farm. We remove the 10 x 22.5 tires and rims and mount 12.5 x 16 bolster trailer tires on the M105A3s. We replace the landing gear with a re-enforced bulldog jack, change the bulbs to 12-volt when LEDs are not present. We build 26" wide folding...

Thanks for the heads up. Spent time today flipping hubs.

    Singles Vs. Duals

I replaced the singles on my M35A3 with 11.00 X 20 Goodyear 177s. I could not be happier. Ripped out the CTIS, mounted the tires on six-lug rims and the ride (especially the steering) is much better. The duels stick out about three inches on either side of the bed but that is within the 3.5...

    A few questions

Leave the glow plugs 24-volts. You will not be disappointed. Spend your money on shocks, ball -joints, tie-rods, front stablizer bar, wiring, any and all hoses, and perhaps a better wiring harness for the front lights. Modern head lights will make night driving safer. As slow these trucks seem...

Is the CTIS on 5 ton A2's better than the Deuce's?

Keep the CTIS clean, dry, and blow a little veggie based oil into the system once a a year to help the seals from drying and cracking and you will stay far out ahead of the problems associated with those systems.

    Biggest Tires Without a Lift

I did not raise my M1028. I mounted 285/85/16 Baha Claw Micky Thompsons 10" rims on the truck. The ride and performance is fantastic. AND, they are quiet, quiet, quiet. 15,000 miles so far. The tread on the MT Baha Claw is similar to the tread on the M35A3. No need for spinning and creating...

Is a CUCV right for me?

Find yourself a friend that owns a CUCV. Drive it. Help her with the maintenance. Get to know her truck inside and out. The answer is to just drive one for a week or so and most of your questions will be answered one way or the other.
