Ok. But this is NOT a remote start. It is simply a starter/system wiring enable circuit. It sits between all three wires and simply connects or disconnects them. You still have to turn the switch to glow, then to start.
I am betting it works like a normal car and start button.
Talked with sales.
1) the fob has a manual/ auto mode. In auto it is proximity. In manual mode you push the button to energize the switch.
2) it controls the starter and glowplug. When it is off, no glowplug or start.
3) proximity is...
The dawg site has a specific model for hmmwv. Direct plug tap interface for the the starting switch. Rated for 35amps. Should keep the honest people honest. They also have a 4g wireless security tap on the starter wire product that looks interesting.
At this point, I am going for defense in...
Resurrecting this thread with a curious find in my 1151A1. Found a retractable cable that seems to lend itself to locking the steering wheel.
Anyone know what the actual purpose is for this cable?
Hi, nope. Brushed it cutting 10% water, brush/roll and tip. Not perfect. Some places you can see brush marks, some places none. Expensive brushes make a difference as does technique.
My 1151a1 paint job survived the dfw storm. I decided to put our cars in the garage and put the 51 outside. Figured it could handle the hail better. But we were in the middle of prepping the doors for paint so had to put them back together and hang them.
Found that the window seals are more...
Yea, the front driver side flashing is a gap from the front. Rain will flow thru. My truck someone put a bit of foam in there. I decided to weather caulk that hole. I have caulked several gap areas. I am not real interested in being wet during downpours.
A couple of notes on door installation I have found.
1) drilling the bracket mount holes. It is dangerous to free hand drill because you have to go thru the door body and be in line with all three holes, or the backing plate will not line up with the screws. My low tech solution was to buy a...
My 1151a1 has those flashings as well. The doors seem to have some compression on the seal at that corner, but I had to monkey with the latch position to draw in the door.
When mounting the front plates I chose to trim that al piece to make a nice flat surface. On the back plates, the existing holes in the al were large so I had to use a couple of different size washers. The back plate slots are for 1/4in bolts. Would have been nice if they were 3/8in instead...
Hi, I bought a set of 4 from Kentucky. Good customer service. Doors seem sturdy, 1/4in thick fg and all standard fittings. I mounted them but presently painting the truck so not much usage.
Interesting note, when closed it is almost impossible for my wife to open them. The latches are too...
Well, we decided on the behr treatment. FS686 desert tan. Filled in all the holes with bolts, pressure washed inside and out, put dtm primer on the new metal and scrapped and applied to all the corroded metal.
Found that they left one piece of armor plate on the slant back. 3/8in thick. Top is...
