Could be the timing is to advanced. A buddy of mine had a old 350 that would start and run great when cold but once he would shut off start it back up hot it would crank and crank found timing was to advanced. I don't know if gasser have a fixed dist or not. If not fixed I check timing.my two2cents

I would say you can use the 87 octane put some lead sub in it and I would put stabuilt fuel treatment in it to help with keeping it fresh. I even think they have one out now spec for ethanol problems. You could also be able to run a little more spark timing do to higher octane but I leave that...
you will provably need a class B with air brake endorsment. anything with a gross vechile weight of 26001 pounds or greater and not towing more than 10000 pounds you need class b lic. When you tow more then 10000 you need class A. 2cents
