Exactly. If enough balk at the new charges, and people stop bidding as much, then they might remove the fee. Vote with your money (or in this case, your bid). If you don't mind the $25 fee, keep bidding the auctions up. Your choice, your wallet, and it's pure capitalism at work. I don't...
I would replace them, even if they look okay. Old engine bolts that have any strain on them for decades, regardless of how nice they look, have internal stress that may not be evident by eyeballing them. Plus, your engine is apart now - wouldn't it be easiest to replace these fairly...
Yup - the jeep in the background is the CJ-3B/M606 with the F-head 134. They were used extensively in Vietnam by the South Vietnamese, and by our forces for putzing around the local roads. For tactical use, the M151s were pretty much all we used, with the exception of a few M38A1s.
I have...
I'm looking at a M116 for a camping trailer for now, something I can tow to Rausch Creek rally and sleep in. I do not have to have the cover on during transport, so if' it's close enough for jazz, that works for my purpose.
I'd like to see the pics as well.
I'll try sending him an email and see what he says, thanks for the heads up.
There is a used one I found on eBay, for $450. !!! That's not happening.... I'm curious, these M116 trailers are everywhere, why are the covers so hard to find?
Jeeps are like Pringles. You can't just have one!
Great save, even if you sell them it always gives a good feeling to find them a caring home with someone.
Patience is a virtue. Apparently most Steel Soldiers members don't have any. :)
Didn't take any pics of the trail riding, but did snap some of the vehicles present at the rally. According to reports from Chuck B. who was taking care of registration, there were almost 70 people present, and...
My first MV (which wasn't a trailer) I bought in 2004, and it was a M890. Yours is in much better condition than mine was, though, looks like you have a good start for getting it perfect. Would make a great truck to drive to rallies with a shelter camper in the back...
Does anyone know where you can purchase surplus (new or good used) covers to fit the M116 series of genset carrier trailers? These are like the M101 3/4-ton trailers, but they are flatbed with no metal sides, and the bows/staves are longer vertically. M101 trailer covers won't work, they are...
Leaving for the rally in a couple hours - bringing a camera to take some pics for the thread, and hopefully to get more SS members there in future years! Also needs to take pics of Adam's navy M37...
Only a month and a half to go, those who have PM work to do on your MVs, this is your wake-up call! Lotsa rock crawling in our future, can't wait to go....
One of these days you're going to show up! Even if someone from NC has to drag your CJ-9 there with you ratchet-strapped to the driver's seat!
Then again, one of these days I'll have my own MV to take to an event and stop bumming rides from other attendees. :(
Another webpage with lots of pics of this unit and talk about getting them up and running:

Sorry, I can't provide input on the transfer case issue. However, I did want to say that I really like your CUCV bed, very cool design! It would be great to see more detailed pics of it, in a new thread.
BTW - welcome to the site!
That looks really good for a 35+ year old truck. The M880 series is getting long in the tooth, and most have cancer BAD. More pics of the outside of the truck, please!
