Running like a champ...then missing smoking and no power

Black/ Grey emissions, (Then..) Just a thought..Some (Not all) of the deuces with the lds engines will run without the in tank working. However, Some run extremely rough without it. Some will not run. Check the fuel supply. (In Tank Pump Clogged, or missing bottom spacers).

    M35a2 Timing

Thank you everyone posting here...I have no faith in the timing at all, read my latest post, However, Since there is absolutely NO point in timing the engine..you only fit the hydraulic head when and if it slides in. So, As I now understand it, (And how I did (Do( the deuces we have)), I simply...

    I have a noisy M35A2.

Have you checked the gearbox? At a standstill nothing else is rotating. So you dip the clutch the noise goes away....Now even the gearbox is not rotating.. I would take the lid off the gearbox top and have a listen, transfer case in neutral trying different gears, Could be an (Easier) starting...

    Type of motor in Deuce

I might be a 'Daihatsu' engine!...count the injectors again. On the turbo side of the engine (Manifold if not) and just under it (The manifold) is a plate with engine data on it. No data plate?...It is a multifuel engine?. Check the data on either the hydraulic head, or the injector pump.

    Oshkosh P-4 Fire Crashtruck Preservation

Such a shame the rare stuff seems to get scrapped. Iv'e been after one of those for many years. And that one looks to be (Or have been!) A great example of the breed, I used to work on them. They are a fantastic truck to drive, Once you get over the 'Scary' jerks and bangs of the transmission...
