Another thing to consider is one of the light relay kits LMC and others sell. These put the load of the headlights on a relay rather than routing it through the fuse box and switch. Do this in addition to you fuse box repairs.

I have one of the oil pump drives but the sensor is gone. It looks kinda like a tach cable could be adapted. One day I'll follow up on that. Cable drive tachs are vintage neat.
