That's good information to know, I will be sure knowing that to take it out for a drive longer than just my gravel road to keep it up to par. Also the guy that I purchased it from said to be sure to keep it under 2100 rpm to avoid damaging the engine. Is that accurate? I am assuming if it's...
I fire mine up and move it up and down my gravel road almost daily just to keep it ready to go with the fluids and batteries. That's insane that a driver side swiped you and kept going. Lol. But I definitely understand what you mean about operating in confined traffic areas with oblivious...
Like the title says, how often do you drive your 5 ton? Just curious as I have the urge everyday to fire mine up and take it for a drive. Lol, if I need to go to lowes, or to the local gun store, grocery store, just for a drive down the road. Granted I don't actually drive it to all these...
We own and have owned dozens of antique tractors from the late 30's to 40's everyone of them has the glass bowl fuel filter/separators. Always just a mesh screen and a rubber gasket. Some have had a cork gasket, once you open them up they tend to need a new gasket as they never reseal without...
That's a good amount of contact between the tank and plate. If that's the case with mine I'll be in good shape as the truck came with an extra air tank in the pile of parts.
I definitely noticed that with the park brake off and the service brake applied it drops a little pressure, which I would assume is to be expected. But after about a 10 pound drop in pressure the compressor kicks on and runs the psi back up to the 120 psi mark. My son says he thinks he can hear...
Its been a long time wish list item for sure. The real joy of it is seeing my both sons being excited to drive it, granted rightfully so they were both nervous and intimidated by the thought of the first time behind the wheel of it. But both did very good at it, they took the time to listen and...
My son has been pricing all the fluids, filters and we will add the bearings to be repacked in with the work we are looking to do in very short order. Thanks for the advice on that, definitely don't want to learn lessons the hard way if it can be avoided.
I drove it to the yard debris recycling center today with the bed stacked full of debris, it doesn't lose any air with the parking brake off and the service brake applied that I noticed. Making a few more runs in it today to the recycling center and will definitely keep an eye on it to be sure.
Would starting with pressurizing the system via the glad hand still be the best place to start? I know little to nothing about the system beyond the air pressure running almost everything. But I am definitely interested in learning as much as I possibly can about it.
I was going to hook up the air compressor to it today, but its been nonstop driving rain today. But its definitely draining down completely, so I guess it is a safe bet that its not a dash item leaking. Though I did start it up, let it recharge the psi, and the one thing that I have noticed...
I went out and checked it last night a few hours after shutting it down and all the air had leaked out. The truck came with a glad hand connection for a compressor hose and I do have a couple compressors so I will try that approach first with a squeeze bottle of water and soap, as I live on a...
Well it was bound to happen, lol. Brought home my m939 on Tuesday, and Wednesday I noticed when I fired it up that the low air light and buzzer was going off. Looked at the air pressure gauges and they're zero psi. The compressor works, got the psi up to 90. I could here a hiss from behind the...
The color scheme was one of the things that really drew me to it. I wasn't aware that it was such a rare color, but knowing that makes me love it that much more. Lol, it broke my sons heart as he's been trying to talk me into painting it the desert tan color. I wasn't going for that, and now...
Thanks to all of you for your support. I will definitely not be looking to drop her in low reverse. I am fine not learning the hard way to replace bell housings and or transfer cases. Lol. The truck has MWO tag for the last two over overhauls, the most recent one for 2010 and 5k miles ago. The...
Finally got to join the ranks of the 5 ton crowd. Bought today a 1986 5 ton truck. Nhc250 non turbo, 46" super singles. Runs drives great so far. Lol, only got a 45 miles on it so far. Bought it locally. 41k miles. Troop/cargo carrier with canvas and bows. Literally came with the bed full of...
Well good news, the truck did have seat belts in it. They were just out of sight initially. Thanks for the information. I'll start a thread and post pics of my newest addition.
