Hahaha, I’ve got the same issue. I looked at the trucks at work, 6 wheel units, they have a guide like that but a square mount on the frame side. I’ll be waiting for replies too.
Got a bit of time to mess around with the plow project today. I started making up the mount by cutting down the factory truck side brackets to make them flat end plates. This way I can keep the up/down adjustment holes. Then I grabbed some 2x4” metal I had that looked just about right for the...
Yeah me too! It’s mixed in with a bunch of other work so it won’t happen super quick. As far as mounting it I’m hanging it off the front tow points, that’s easy, from there the options aren’t great. The tow points will take the weight from hanging it but obviously won’t take any force of...
Hey all,
Yesterday I picked up the plow I had been looking for. It’s a Boss DXT, 10’ V. The plow truck I was using last year is no longer available and I don’t care to go back to my open ROPS tractor where I can bury myself in snow with the blower in about 20 seconds.
I got the plow from a...
Fixed the fuel/water separator on the engine. As someone had mentioned there was junk in the check valve in their unit, mine was the same. I pulled it off the truck to inspect and document. The check valve is a very simple device, just a stopper held by spring steel.
Excellent news! I’d much rather fix than replace. I wasn’t sure if it was possible as the primer bulb is crimped on. Good to know the check valve parts aren’t under that. Thanks
I was able to put a few hours together to work on big truck. I got the PTO installed on the transmission. It took a bit longer than two hours. I dropped the front driveshaft for clearance, though I’m sure the PTO wouldn’t fit otherwise. Removed the cover plate, used some gasket remover to get...
I guess I should add that the order of parts is the -an *90 fitting, debris screen ( had to pick it out and reshape after) 1/8’ hex set screw (has a hole all the way through for fluid flow) spring, then the check ball, second spring.
One thing I will add is when reassembling the parts don’t...
Finally got into my OE spare tire lift cylinder. It had locked up just a after I got the truck and would not move. I had replaced it with a commercial cylinder, no internal safety locks, and it wouldn’t quite lower the tire all the way. I had saved the original and got some time to look into it...
Yeah I was wondering if you were heading this way. You may be able to just flip the pumpkins over to reverse your direction? But the issue with that would be driveline angles get worse…. Maybe? I’m not close to a truck to look.
Yeah I purchased a mostly complete kit, I’m very happy with what I got. I still need the PTO/solenoid wiring harness. Additionally all the rollers need new needle bearings which I need to track down.
So as far as lifting the winch into position I cheated. I used my pallet forks on my tractor. I just slid the forks together, about 12” or so apart? Then lifted it by cradling the winch drum. That made it real easy to adjust the frame to align the bolt holes. Once one bolt was in it was very...
