We definitely need some mufflers, although I did get a performance increase like the old Army vet told me I would. I adjusted the front band a year or so ago. Probably wouldn't hurt to check it again
It has been several months since I have driven this truck for a significant amount of time. It...
Welcome to the forum! Looks like a good truck to work with. Will be neat to see what you do with it.
I would be interested in buying the rock guards on the top of the front bumper should you decide to sell parts after you get the custom bumper on.
Where did you get a master cylinder rebuild kit from? I am going to try to pull a master cylinder off of my parts truck to see if it can be rebuilt.
I was looking at this kit but am not sure it it right...
Could you describe for me how to do this? I would really like to learn how to do it properly. Seems like it could be a little tricky with all the moving parts.
I took the hollow muffler with me to work today with the intention of stopping by the muffler shop afterwards. One of the guys at work who is a welder volunteered to weld it for me since he was slow today. The end of it was really thin so he cut off 2" to get back to good metal. We had some...
Thank you. That piston looks different from mine. Is it one piece?
Got the truck running very good and plan to road test this weekend. So far no leaks with the NAPA cups. I'll report back after I get it on the road and work the brakes a bit.
I will try to play with getting some video footage this weekend so we can compare and maybe show that hard 2nd to 3rd shift. Although mine only shifts really hard in low range. Really smooth shifting in high.
How far advanced past the pointer did you go on timing? I just have a regular timing...
After fighting with my truck for a few weeks now, I finally got it running. Part of the problem was the stock muffler. It did not seem to be plugged, but as soon as I took it off, things started running a lot better. I have a hollowed out G749 muffler that needs an end welded back on it. I...
My truck is back running and seems to be doing very well. Idling is smooth and no more loading up when at idle. I took it for a short run tonight, but need to get out on the highway and take her up to speed to see how the governor setting being where it is supposed to be affects things. I could...
That MV-161A is for the M37 and M715. It bolts right into those distributors and eliminates the need for points, etc., and no more need to adjust anything/have anything go out of adjustment. I have an M715 distributor that I am going to compare to the M135 distributor and see if we can make it...
As of today, the front brakes are redone. The wheel cylinders were lightly honed just in case there were any burrs and new Napa cups put on the one piece pistons. The back brakes are blocked off and air is bled out of the system. Now we watch to see if any leaks happen. As soon as I get the...
What good timing that you posted this. I am having issues of my own and am really fighting my truck, which led me to start researching. I'm about tired of fighting the ignition stuff and am seriously looking at converting over to the Pertronix MV-161A. People here on Steel Soldiers are saying...
