At the moment no. Always seen him driving, no name on the side either. I'll see if I can look him up.

    So i bought a Deuce

Welcome from Ohio! Good luck on your endeavor! There is a guy in my area that did the same thing with an M109 van. I liked driving behind him, it smelled so good!

    M35 Radiator

I had my fan shroud start to come off, it was rubbing against the crank pulley. I ended up taking to a radiator shop and they said the same things about the factory solder job too. (Very shotty work). They fixed it up for a super reasonable price!

    Thermostat stuck in the housing

Mine was stuck on the engine side (not the housing). I used penetrating oil and gently "hit" it with a rubber mallet. It didn't take long before mine came out.

Leece Neville Alternator Voltage Regulator Replace

Put the old capacitor back in. Installed the voltage regulator, cleaned the contacts, and put the alternator back in the truck. Started up the truck, everything looks good. I'm making 27.8 volts at the batteries. And the gauge reads in the green on the white tick mark.

Leece Neville Alternator Voltage Regulator Replace

That's it! Capacitor. Couldn't think of that for the life of me. The capacitor that came with the new voltage regulator doesn't fit properly. The wire comes out of the wrong end as opposed to the original one. If it's just for noise and radio then I shouldn't have to worry about anything...

Leece Neville Alternator Voltage Regulator Replace

Ok so I'm finally to the point of replacing the voltage regulator on the Leece Neville alternator. I go to replace the little cylinder thing with the wire coming out of it ,the name of it escapes me. The one with the yellow wire is the new. The black wire one is the old one. You can see the new...

    M35a2 winch conversion and rebuild.

Interesting homemade? bumper/fairlead set up. I'll be keeping an eye on this rebuild. Maybe a good winter project for me and my truck.

    Diesel in engine oil, thoughts?

paccrest: When are you checking the oil? Before you start the engine, or about a minute after shutdown? If you check it before start up the dipstick will read high. Proper procedure is to check the engine oil approximately a minute after engine shut down. As per instructions on the dipstick.

can a deuce ever be very reliable?

There are some parts that can be cross referenced from other vehicles, like gaskets, hoses and steel brake lines as an example. You just have to do a little research. Plus this sight is a wealth of knowledge! The archives have helped me in all kinds of ways, from figuring out the best way to...

    Hercules Engine Date Code?

When they go through some sort of overhaul, aren't the trucks suppose to get an MRO tag with a code on it and the date of work?

    Hercules Engine Date Code?

Very interesting, considering the vin numbers are for a 1971 truck. The data plate on the engine block is all but a blank aluminum plate. Nothing legible but some stamped numbers on the bottom. 3987688. I love finding things like this!

    Hercules Engine Date Code?

So this block was cast in 1987?

    Hercules Engine Date Code?

Hey All, I found these numbers on the side of the engine block next to the starter. I was just wondering if this is a date code for the engine block. No real reason, just like finding out interesting things about my truck.

Torque multiplier....I won't leave home without it.

I keep my torque multiplier in the truck with me at all times. One of the better tools I've purchased for my Deuce.

M35A2 Fan Shroud Separating From Radiator

I did ask about a recore, and was told that it would be cheaper to get a new or NOS radiator. They said I should be fine with the repair. I dropped it off at 11 on Wednesday and picked it up at 11 on Thursday!
