What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Interesting ... I just watched it this morning because it came up on my feed. ! Had no idea it was a members ride. The video was edited very well. Nice work on the truck. I saw a lot of the things you did to the truck that you didn’t talk about. Alternator, headlight control, roll meters side...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Thanks Al. Prep was just to power wash it. Pick a few spots of peeling CARC off it and paint. I have found the surface to be so rough that it accepts the paint easily. The bare metal holds the paint just as well. A couple years ago, I did a test. I had a sheet of 16 ga that was “clean”. I...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Yeah I know. It’s bugged me. I have one green wheel, 5 black ones. I’m debating on the color and finish. Black? Green? Flat? Satin? So many choices.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Behr Premium, exterior, latex enamel - Satin finish. If only we were closer, I could have painted your trailer, your truck, replaced the window and put an engine in it for you! I used an airless sprayer for the green. I could not get it to spray low enough. I was getting drips. If you were...

What did you do to your trailer today.

Nice job. I love the 1101. Some people like the 101 better, but I think they each have their place.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

    * I installed a super duty flagpole holder in the bed. The 1.25” sch 40 pipe will bend before the mount will break. * Replaced the air dryer with a SKF Brakemaster 2000 air dryer. Supposed to be a straight swap out, but it took some drilling and hunting down extra fittings to make the lines...

SKF Brakemaster Turbo 2000 Air Dryer

Thanks. Got it done. This didn't turn out to be a straight swap out. Bolt holes were about 2” narrower on the SKF, so I needed to drill 2 new holes to match up with the SKF. The fittings didn’t fit either. One of the 1/2” fittings worked out (the 90 degree inlet) but I needed reducers and...

SKF Brakemaster Turbo 2000 Air Dryer

Having an issue with wiring. Me and electricity aren't best friends, so, I think its best to ask. From the Dryer, P1 is power, J1 is ground. On the truck there is a black wire and a white wire. I cut this wire off the old dryer. Figure black is probably ground. I put my multimeter on each...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Oh, ok. I was trying to figure out where oil could have com from. Transmission is a mix of 15-40 and 10 wt hydraulic fluid (15-40 in it prior to fluid change). So ... definitely looks like it could be tranny fluid. T case interlock fail ... could this have something to do with my inability to...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Today I changed out the rear lights for LEDs. Hooked up the air to the air-ride seats. Changed the air filter to a TMG filter. The glass barely registered any pressure, but I bought the filter, so might as well change it out. There was some oil in the filter canniest. Clean engine looking oil...

Essential Tool Kit for a Recovery

I used a wet shemagh on my head, ball cap on top of that, to keep it in place and another wrapped around my neck. It was a lifesaver. Like a mini air conditioner for my head. Have to keep wetting it down, but it works. It makes a huge difference.
