mep 803a stopped on its own, wont turn over via main switch, has battery power

I would check fuses and look for a bad wire connection / short. Low oil may or may not be involved in shutdown. If oil, should have had the oil light on....and confirm plenty of fuel in tank.

mep 803a stopped on its own, wont turn over via main switch, has battery power

You did not indicate if you added oil back to proper level. If not, do it and then attempt a restart. There is a low oil light on these units. From TM SYMPTOM 10. Low oil pressure. TEST OR INSPECTION Step 1. Check for low lubrication oil level. CORRECTIVE ACTION If necessary add oil, refer to...

    Newbie with an -803a

Or is it just a ghost in my head?? As I said it runs great and I'm simply going to use it. I've had cars that splashed oil out the dip stick hole and they rolled me many miles. I'm thinking this generator has a loooooong long future ahead of it.

100 hours on the air filter.....I'm chasing a blow-by problem on an 802 that had ~428 hours on it when I got it. Runs great but still has that blow-by condition and some smoke at 100%PF. I'll only use it at around 25% when camping but the blow-by bothers me a little. It was pretty well wet...

....and a 50 gallon spare fuel tank, several sectional military ground rods, the military ground rod hammer, 4 conductor 6awg cable to get the power where you want it, and those electrical connectors, a Spider Box for your neighbors, misc new gauges as needed, and then a whole garage shelf full...

    MEP803A Wont Shut off

I learned a loooong time ago not to argue with Obi-wan Guyfang. No measurements, but pics show same sized guards in both of my machines.

Check socket size vs. wheel bearing castle nut. Probably too big, but if it fits that's why it's in the box.

    MEP803A Wont Shut off

I'm an ex-extrusion plant engineer and safety has been drilled into my head. I like having the guards in place on my 2 generators. They are the first 3 screws to remove the guard on a job that needs access behind them and the last 3 screws to go back on when job complete. They remain in place...

    MEP-002A fuel filter?

Your Operator's Manual TM will tell you what kind of fuel you can run. My 802A shows: 5. Fuel System: Type of Fuel DF-1, DF-2, DF-A, JP4, JP5, JP8 There is also a data plate above the fuel tank that lists acceptable fuels. I run mine on diesel....and do not own an 002A TMs...

    MEP Fuel gauge

MEP802A Fuel Gauge A year + later and I'm in the same position. Repaired a fuel leak on my 802 and noticed problems with Fuel gauge. TM troubleshooting confirmed bad gauge. All 3 of these 2" gauges showed signs of an operator tapping on them - nicks in paint, small dents. I had already...

    Generator Output cable ID

I think those synchronizing switches on the 2 generator power plants were used to adjust the Hz when bringing one online so the other generator could be taken down for maintenance. How are you planning on using one at the church's emergency shelter?

    Adding a 240V 30A outlet to an 802A

I got one of these used off ebay. https://www.cepnow.com/product/6506gu-2/ The 120 receptacles were all used up, so I had to replace them, all else was good to go. You will need to match your connectors: generator to spider box. I used the CS6369/CS6375 connectors for my generator connectors.

    Looks like 4 conductor/6 AWG: https://www.awcwire.com/part.aspx?partname=co-04-hdf-(4/6-4/12r)-1100 Ampacity charts say 55 to 65 amps, 2 conductors live. https://www.lapptannehill.com/resources/technical-information/ampacity-chart...

Searched on your posted part numbers. The onan didn't get me much. The INDEX 8037122 number has more info available. https://www.ebay.com/itm/INDEX-Thermostatic-Switch-8037122-5-8-Fine-Thread-225-Degree-Normally-Open-/252688737382 Then did a reverse search on the NSN 5930-01-378-6882 in TM...
