You may want to re-terminate the cable(s) as well. The ends are looking seriously corroded:
Might be just as bad for a short distance under the insulation?
Yes.
In all seriousness, just look at the threads closely. You can see the direction they will push the lug nut if you take a moment and think about it.
This is what one looks like when you don't look closely enough before you apply 1600 ft-lb's by hanging off the end of an 8' breaker bar...
Looking at it recently, the FWD heat exchanger appears to be liquid-to-liquid. The failure mode of that would be clogged/compromised passages or reduced flow through the cooler (bad pump? although you would likely have other problems if that was the case).
I haven't stressed mine at all but it...
Where did you get yours weighed? Mine is 9,200# on the front axle at a state DOT scale. I know I have stripped a few things off but I can't imagine it's >2,000# of stuff specifically from the front axle.
Who did that for you? Are they a national chain? Would love to get mine dynamically balanced. I'm near Portland, OR and no one I've called has the capacity to do this.
You do realize what forum you're in, right? This is like asking crackheads on a crack forum if crack is fun.
I second the recommendation to go sit in one and/or drive it. It's probably the most imperative thing to do.
I was somewhat in your shoes... check the first post in my build thread...
Thanks Steven! I think it came out pretty well in general and fantastically for an amateur.
I only bought SPST and SPDT so far, but if you Google-fu 44x 22 mm or 1.74 x .87 in hole switches, you'll find many options. I found plenty of options out there, for multi-pole and lit up indicators...
Had a pretty productive weekend. Made an interior for the cab:
Painted the engine blanket with rubberized paint (looks great but the verdict is still out on if it will fully cure)
Headliner looks pretty good:
I also made an overhead console as well (sorry for crappy pic):
The center...
The short story is I copied what I had seen. I corresponded with a couple of people, found out what they used for filters and went about incorporating them. I used hard piping where I have seen some use flexible ducting because I didn't want to think about possibly collapsing the plumbing...
Please excuse the forwardness but I'd be interested in 3+/- if there is a way to intrude on the the deal. Also happy to cover shipping...
Would be happy to wait for them to get to AllenF first as well.
I did and they do OK but could be better. The pass side seems more stable than the driver despite doing the same thing on each side. I will probably take another run at it shortly, but the proof of concept (placement, field of view, etc...) was worth the effort. I do like them, just need to...
Too late... Got the switch wired up, got the mirrors hooked up/working correctly, and now...
The other one is also on as well, just after this pic was taken.
They do shake a bit so I'd have to say they're not "done" yet, but they are on and functional and MILES better than the OEM ones...
Nope. It's a family livery...
When I built the GT, the biggest decision was what color to paint it. Ever since then everything else seems to gets painted (close to) the same way:
(I won the Portland Adult Soapbox Derby 3 years in a row, including a team podium sweep last year - 2019 video...
And in a fit of efficiency, I put the door handles back in and got the locks working from the outside on both of them. I can now open both doors from the outside (and inside) and secure the cab from the exterior with a key.
The only thing I can't do presently is lock them from the inside. I...
In the process of prepping for paint, I wanted to also get my door handles/locks working. The driver's side entry worked fine but I had no key so it wouldn't lock. Turns out it wasn't even connected up anyway... The passenger side door opened from the inside, but did nothing from the outside-...
It's been pretty quiet on the truck front lately but managed to empty a few rattle cans. Pretty happy with the change, but it does look like a rattle can job. Will look better once we get some dirt on it.
Still need to do the chassis but quite pleased enough with it so far.
