A big ol' PLUS 1 to all three.
He wouldn't recognize my screen name, but he sure would recognize my truck, Henry.
Joe is all aces, and if you are ever in or near Jasper and don't stop in and say Hey ... you really missed something!
That's the best idea I heard. Safer and MUCH easier also.
If you could save me a bit of the oil and the oil filters for analysis, I'd appreciate it.
Ted
Yes ... I will bring containers for the oil. Better to drain it and secure it rather than risk a spill.
I also have a big black plastic cement mixing tub. It might be handy to use as a basin to wash parts in.
Nothing in the mail yet for me, I can't wait to find out if this stuff is gonna work.
If this stuff works out I'm thinking there is a world of uses for it.
Making a bikini top for a M35A2 without cutting up a usable top just to name one.
Sorry to take so long to get to you, I was looking for a thread that might help you and just found it today.
Glad to see that you are using this site: http://www.xm381.com/xm381/Home.html as a guide for the job. The information and pictures there are a great help.
Two things that I felt...
I am finally getting to the fuel projects I have planned for my truck. Driver side tank, upgraded spin-on fuel filters and external fuel pumps.
I'm planning on removing the in-tank pump & screen and replace it with a steel pickup tube.
I would like to plumb in some sort of garbage filter...
Nope. I was re-reading this thread and saw someone was standing in need of a 5 ton tool box.
I was trying to be discreet so I wouldn't hijack your thread.
BTW, I don't think your guess is far off. The pieces in your pictures almost look like the chips that would be made during a lathe or milling operation.
If you still have the oil filters, it might be worth cutting them open to see if you find smaller particles in them. This would give you some idea if stuff is getting past the pickup screen.
Yes ... I just checked. They all look about the same and range from about $130 to $175.00.
While I was looking, I did notice an auction there of a genuine Bosch unit that is used. Right now its under a hundred, but the auction has 6 days to go. Who knows what the condition is.
Plus 1.
I've been looking at the pop testers found on ebay. I assume that these are made in India because a lot of the reviews I find on the 'net refer to them as "Indian pop-testers". I've looked everywhere, but have not found any negative reviews from folks who have actually bought one...
That's a good question. I would think that all the coated vinyl stuff that the military used is the same but I don't know for sure and never thought to compare when I was near other mv's.
My samples haven't arrived yet.
I also asked for samples of the 1000 Codura. I don't want it for top or cover material, but can think of a lot of other uses for it. Its tough, scuff and abrasion resistant and water resistant. I read that it won't rot and looks like it could sew easily.
I almost gave up looking ... I think I *might* have found something:
http://www.ahh.biz/vinyl/vinyl_military_tent_with_ir_blocking.php
If you end up at their home page select vinyl in the block on the left, then select "military tent material".
Their information states, "This is the "Real...
Sorry to hear of your troubles.
I didn't realize that we lived so close ... I'm just north of you in Pickens County and close enough that I could volunteer a couple days work if it would help. I'm not a truck mechanic, but I AM a good automotive mechanic and have done all the work on my own...
Great Job.
I see that the part number for these fittings is C74-158LF.
Do you happen to have a source and part number for the insert?
Also, where did you get the line? What size and part number.
Thanks
PLUS 1!!! Good job kcollum!
You may not have saved a lot of money, but your time was well spent.
A lot of people have NO IDEA how to simply solder two wires together. This is a great skill to have.
Does anybody know a source for the vinyl material used to make the covers for M105 trailers? I'd like to find the same material if I could and in the same solid green color.
I planning a camper project and I would like to avoid cutting up a good cover or even a ripped one that somebody else...
Over the last year or so I've been mixing gasoline with WMO using compressed air to agitate the mix. Not only does it seem to speed up the cleaning/de-watering, it also is very handy when finally blending in a thinning agent (gasoline, kerosene, etc) to adjust final specific gravity of product...
