Like Helmetta NEW JERSEY???
Home of two of my favorites, Gold River and Silver Creek.
Back in the late 60's I had a summer job helping a crew put up the chain link fence around that plant. I wandered into one of the drying rooms ... and got hooked.
I think they named it "Gold River" because...
A number of people will suggest that an ratio of 80% waste to 20% diesel will work just fine ... as long as its filtered sufficiently. Some alter that mix seasonally, according to temperature.
If your question really is, "How do we determine the percentage of diesel fuel (or other liquid)...
True. the WMO tested "did NOT statistically improve lubricity".
But neither did WMO DEGRADE lubricity.
The reference "may damage systems" may have more to do with the CLEANLINESS of WMO.
Used Motor Oil, Shell Rotella T 15w40, 5,000 miles used.
Unconventional (Not ULSD compliant, may...
I get some smoke on cold start-up and during cold operation. When the engine gets up to temp, the smoke drops off.
I never get great black billowing clouds of it ... Oh ... there might be enough to cause somebody from California or New Jersey get woozy ... or maybe even faint a little. But...
A year and a half ... and over 4,800 looks at this thread.
By my count we killed 2 possible fuel pumps ... an IP ... and a o-ring. No reported engine damage ... on this thread.
I wonder how many miles have been logged and how many gallons of WMO have been burned ... with no problem ... by...
I replaced the boot and seals on the left side of my truck today.
Thanks to this thread I had an idea of what to expect and had the stuff that I was going to use to make a puller at hand ... all I had to do was cut it to fit.
The cross piece is an old steering wheel puller ... I had 2 so...
I replaced my front shocks today with the Monroe's that everybody seems to be using. No probs with the installation.
I found some part numbers on the old set. The shocks were Gabriels. The stamping reads (from top to bottom):
7539007
651002
Gabriel of Canada
Made in Canada
T8071
The P/O...
Installed new front shocks (Monroes).
Took apart left front, replaced ripped boot with new silicone one piece ... new seals ... checked and repacked bearings.
I was very happy to see that the brakes, wheel cylinder, hoses and bearings in the front left matched the condition of the rears ...
This is a pretty good piece of advice for a new feller ...
Although you shed a lot of weight when you bob the truck ... when you change to a sing axle in the rear you are reducing the numbers of tires that give you traction for BRAKING ... by about a third.
When you tow ... it ain't so much...

This shows a build using a M105 trailer and its springs ... this site also has a good pictorial on flipping the rear hubs. I built mine using this method and it worked great...
1) re: House Filters. I have one in my set up and have to say that I don't much like it ... but I am running a LOT of pressure ... and VERY dirty oil. Also, I have yet to find a local source for o-rings that will stand up to oil ... or a mail order (internet) that will deal in two or three...
No good - either site.
I'm gonna keep looking for a while ... then probably go with Scribd. It ain't the money ... Its the registration that bugs me.
and ... well ... I guess it IS partly the money ...
I HATE paying for something I already paid for.
