I agree with John.

I do this regularly. I first compare the price of American-made vs. the cheapest (i.e., Chinese). I usually end up buying American unless it is for a one-time use and the price difference is large. We need to support our own companies and stop funding a hostile nation.

It varies by the time of year (I never take my trucks out when there is salt on the road), but I'd say that I drive a truck (not necessarily the 5 ton) almost every weekend. The 5 ton is in the rotation. The 5 ton probably gets driven twice a month, sometimes more, but rarely less.

Or, you could buy my military-issue tire jack. It works with singles or duals. $75. It comes with a nylon safety rope, although the rope has seen better days (the jack, inself, is fine and works well).

I had a 1967 M543A2 that had the direct drive transmission. I don't know anything about its history other than I bought it from the State of Delaware and it came to me like that.

Does the truck have the overdrive or direct drive transmission? Top speed will be a bit higher with the overdrive transmission, but I prefer the direct drive transmission for use and local driving. Check the data plate near the steering wheel that shows the maximum speeds in each gear. It may...

Welcome and congratulations on the new acquisition. The M35A2C w/w trucks were fairly rare as most came wo/w. Is it an original truck that came out that way (check the data plate), or did the original owner add the winch? It is fine either way. I am just curious.

Congratulations. The 4 color MERDC camo scheme is definitely a rare one for the M939 series trucks. I have only ever seen a handful come out with the 4 color scheme. Good luck with the truck!

Tato, unless you already know, I'd suggest gently sanding down the tan sections on the bumper to reveal the unit the truck was with. I always enjoy learning about the history of my trucks if it can be figured out.
