Got the wall standoffs cut and mocked up. Still need to do the rivnuts behind it, then drop my electrical outlets, and finally pull it all apart for paint. Had to use 15" centers 9opposed to the standard 16"). All three sections I had to make were 90" so it was just easier to bring the studs...
I like the idea of an automated step that comes down when the door opens. But at the end of the day, it becomes another moving part to break off-roading. I guess it'd viability/longevity would be based on truck use.
From an engineering standpoint, I'd likely just have a flat step that sits...
Yeah, I'd love to find the actual schematic for the A1R controller.
I swear I read that one version was compatible with all, but the other only worked with the intended truck. It was all second-hand discussion if I recall. I also seem to recall one seller warning a purchaser that the one he...
I'm going too start with what's pre-run. There were 120v and 208v outlets as well as 24v.
It's all singles made up into runs, and I have a number of rolls of 12 and 14 single. I figure between what I have on hand and what I gut from existing, I'm covered.
And a buddy game me a couple 50'...
I've seen steps that fold down. Just another thing to do to get into or out of the truck. I've seen the cable replaced with motorcycle drive chain.
Nothing I would consider an upgrade
You might want to look into forming an LLC in a more friendly state. A company vehicle can operate legally across state lines. And due to reciprocity, what's legally driven in one state may enter another state. So start an LLC, register your truck under the LLC, lease it to yourself for a...
OK, the front wall is pretty much prepped for now. I'm going to seal it all up for the time being, insulate the crap out of the outside faces, hang my frames, and panel the front wall shut (until such time that I figure out what to do with the overhead boxed spaces).
So the next couple days...
One of the most laughable design aspects of the M1079 is the silly intake fan in the hab.
This is the 4"x4" hole the Army made for air to come in:
This is the 9"x9" fan in the 12"x12" box that the Army made to push air in the 4"x4" hole:
This is the 10,000 cu/in box the Army made to hold...
Hunter heater is almost out. Took me awhile to figure out how they got it in there. Had to take off all the brackets and the vent section), I can't tell what the two ss fuel lines are sealed with where they come thru the one frame member. Looks like maybe some sort of epoxy, so I don't think...
What is it that causes the incompatibility with the controllers. I've read that one will work with either truck, but the other is unique to that variant. I'd just assumed that it was the A1R that was unique.
