I can't recall seeing them around (Hawk). 24th ID was at Ft Stewart but it seems that I only remember the Stinger systems. Anyway, glad to meet someone who drove these!
The Fuel O-rings came in, installed them and then remounted the assembly back on the truck. Primed it and fired right up. Now to track down my Oil pressure sensor issue.
Nice pics on the Ranger gun jeeps. Each Battalion had a slight variation on them, but overall they are represented well. Very overloaded with all the gear!
Kind of ironic that all those years ago I barely noticed these trucks and now I own 2.
I looked at a M275 locally but was leery of it as it was at a construction company and they had used it to haul dozers and stuff. I figured they had pulled the snot out of it.
The M818 just looks awkward...
Assuming my windshield hasn't been moved since the stone age, am I getting into something bad trying to lower it? My shop door is 8' and the only way I can see to get it in is to lower the windshield, remove the mirrors and upper stack. As well as the bed rails.
I've seen a few M275's out there, but they seem rare. Same power as a M35?
I don't think I have ever seen a M36 or 342.
When I was in ('88-92) there were M35's around, but there was a big change to the 5 ton BMY trucks. Our unit had no organic trucks so we depended on other units for...
Removed the old canvas top and installed a slightly used one that I got from a member here (Thanks
Tehachapi Guy)
. It's a insulated vinyl one that I hope gives me years of protection.
Went on easy enough, only issue is the passenger side forward snap does not align. Might have to add another...
Purchased a 200w solder iron and that worked. Popped the old wire out and put in a new wire. Recoupled the connection and now my pump works again!
Learned a thing or two and glad it was a simple enough fix
Yes I drove it home (10 miles). Took a bit to get it going (Me learning to trouble shoot the issues), plus the in tank pump wasn't working and the tank has a pin hole (I thought this was lucky as all the bad fuel drained out). Epoxied the hole, primed the system and got it running. It was weak...
Started my own thread for my Deuce(s)
This one is my main focus right now. it's a 1970 M756a2, last of the line per the serial # check. Fire Co had it from 1996 to 2009 and then turned it in for a A3 model. Sat around until 2019 when Gov. sold it. I got it from the guy that bought it, still the...
Here is the wiring harness coupler at the rear. You can see where it was spliced. This was tightly wrapped so I didn't notice it before.
Plug with the identifying letters on it to match the wire diagram'
Exposed bad wire. This coupler uses a solder cup. My solder iron wouldn't get hot enough...
Pulled the in tank pump on Deuce #2 and got that working. It was nasty but I am happy I don't have to buy a new one! Contacted the old Fire Company that had the truck previously. They had it from 1996 to 2008. Mainly for parades and Brush duty. Said they did a complete service on it before...
