I'm trying to find more pictures of this truck. I know it's history and have had the honor of meeting some of the surviving crew members. I've also had the honor of putting my own marks on this truck, namely a white brush mark from where I very lightly bent a wooden fence on the way home from...
Robo, 14 and 15 are Dumpster, otherwise known as Jeff. Yes, that is an old gasser tipper and it goes on every trail out there. It's neat to listen to and he is very skilled when maneuvering the trails. Nothing seems to rattle him terrain wise. Jeff and Mark are the usual trail ride leaders...
Zout, are you proposing we stay out in the woods? I'm game for that and I've scouted some pretty decent spots but I took it easy this year and rented a cabin. I figured I'd have to pay $75 for 3 nights in a tent versus $180 for 3 nights sharing a cabin with some friends. The idea of having a...
Member Atomic on here has perhaps the loudest whistling C turbo on his truck that I have ever heard and he would love to have a D turbo. If that's what you have and it doesn't have shaft play issues, I'm sure he'd be happy to swap. One problem I would forsee is shipping from Ga, USA to...
I missed you too James!! I could have actually taken you up on that Prime Rib dinner at that place down the road you were telling me about 3 years ago on the trails as I've tamped down my partying quite a bit. Hope you had a good time!!
That's great to know. Do you know how hard it is to find a spot in the woods at the line up spot? I found one where nobody could see me but goodness it was a walk!!!
I've got some of the Firestone T-831's on my truck. Unloaded, it went threw places at the GA Rally this year that people struggled on NDT's and Goodyear G177's in 6X6 and my truck eased through in 6X4. I hate reading that they are discontinued but mine have a lot of tread left on them so they...
PB, please assign godawgsdv8 a seat. He was the tall guy that has been to the last few GA Rally's with us. He can be a driver or a TC for the event. I see I get Gun Truck duty again which is just fine!! I do love those things and one day I'll have one myself. I'll always carry the history...
This is a subject of quite a bit of debate. They most always got repainted but these trucks underwent an IROAN rebuild which was Inspect, Rebuild Only As Needed. The only other items that were guaranteed to be replaced were the tires. Engines were pulled and dynoed and if found within specs...
Add Russ, Scott and myself to the driver's list as discussed at the SSGR14. I'd like to drive a Jeep so that Lee and the boys could ride with me if possible but then again, we can all fit across the seat of a Deuce sized cab as well. Just post the SP time and we'll get there an hour early to...
I'd like for you to read the last Commandant's letter concerning this. We are resetting the fleet of trucks to 0 mile standards at the depot's. The MTVR's have no planned replacement and is a very capable truck for it's assigned role. Unless one is a basket case and not worth rebuilding, I...
I'll add once again that I had a great time. If there is anyone who feels like they didn't get the red carpet treatment at this years GA Rally, please come and find me and I'll show you how it's done. You still won't get the red carpet treatment but you may come away with a little more...
When we installed the MC, we did have a low pedal after bleeding so we adjusted the rod a little longer. It still has a slightly low pedal but when the pedal gets stiff, it basically has no brakes unless you stand up on top of the pedal and then it has marginal brakes. It made the 180 mile...
Sir,
I agree completely. This year was Fantastic in my opinion. I stayed in a cabin down the road but still managed to navigate the vendor area 3 or 4 times. I went on 5 trail rides in 3 days including 2 night trail rides. Some of the trail rides I went on were not the "guided" trail rides...
A friend of mine has a truck that develops an issue during a long 60 plus mile drive. The brake pedal will get hard to the point that you cannot press on the brake pedal. The truck has a new master cylinder, new short airpack, fresh DOT 5 in the lines, new wheel cylinder's all the way around...
Me and some friends drove ours 180 miles each way to the GA Rally. Minor issues with my friends trucks but I just drove mine on some trails and had no issues the whole trip. The T831 Firestone tires worked great on the trails and I never had to be pulled out of a mud hole.
They all rolled in under their own power. At the gas station in Eatonton, I just needed to get some go go juice. Very happy ya'll stopped for the first breakdown. You don't see people do that too much these days. You and your wife seem like great people and I hope you do decide to convoy up...
