What did you do to your deuce this week?

@pitpawten quote: "so I hammered out any weirdness" You should have made a video, I feel this could help a lot of people

What did you do to your deuce this week?

@pitpawten Get your batteries in and get it running, show the kids it still lives, they will refuel your enthusiasm, then just one thing at a time, easy peasy (as the kids say)

    NV4500 questions

I literally forgot GM used the 4500, my brain is fried . IF thats a GM model then, easy peasy . I assumed it was an early dodge unit

    Parts for M1101 Brakes.

Well one alternative would be to jettison all that brake nonsense for later use as cannon fodder, eliminating any future problems they will cause .

    NV4500 questions

With the cookfest figure 8 pattern T-case, so you're also gonna need a T-case with the NP 6 bolt round pattern, correct input and pass drop for your cucv . That trans is the early model they used behind the non wastegated 12 valves . I'm not typically an auto guy, but I'd take a TH400 over...

Won’t go past 55 mph and revs high while driving.

Personally I'd unhook the vacuum line down at the modulator while it's running and verify a vacuum signal .

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Ok so I did a thing, I hooked my Deuce to my 5 ton with my new to me tow bar and dragged it around on the property for a couple laps to see how it felt and see if I could make anything go wrong, which it did . Vid here: Here's a few pics too .

    M35A2 air pack

In my experience I've found the long ones on the old 5 tons and the short ones on the Deuce's, there are also older ones that run oil in them, there is literally a fill and drain plug iirc

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I FINALLY got a tow bar for the M50A2, picked it up at little military show yesterday right down the road from me, it was a great show lots of cool peeps and good food, so stoked to have found this . Now just gotta figure out what position the cab levers need to be in, and I can tow this to...

    Bad day for an M52A1

Cheaper than a new truck? Free shipping, fleabay, sellet can convert to 24v no charge . And for the record, a lot of these rigs never make it back to "turn in" they are often cheap sold right from the station, especially with a dead engine, don't ask me how I know .

    M35A2 rear U-Bolt removal

Those U-bolts are junk, so an acetylene torch or a cut off wheel is your friend . Have some new ones made or pay thru the nose for some NOS ones . IF you are trying to save the nuts (because NOS U-bolts don't come with them) then I reccomend PB Blaster, heat and a good impact, but new ones...

    Bad day for an M52A1

Broken/weak valve springs occur considerably more with age as the metal becomes fatigued, we know that, one would presume that since he did not show a pic of broken springs or beat up keepers or mention any of the above that they were "okay" . Until it's pulled apart there is nothing but...

    Bad day for an M52A1

You can theorize all you want, but you have no idea what that piston actually looks until you pull the head and look at it, or see it with a borescope (if that's possible) If the valve dropped it's due to a faulty keeper or broken/weak springs which can all be repaired on the non offending...

    Bad day for an M52A1

Doesn't seem like it'd be all that hard to pull it around back and yank the head off, if the piston is "okay" and the problem is isolated to the head, then rebuild the head and pop it back on and run it for another 20 years . Diesel pistons are pretty tough and can take some well above average...

    M929 Hydraulic Pump Very Noisy

If your hyd res is 3 gallons low with bed down, that's certainly where I'd start, then if problem continues address filters .

Gm 14bolt yoke bolt not lined up

I think it was the wording that may have threw some folks, the yoke is held on by a nut threading onto the pinion, holding the yoke in place . Pull the nut back off clean the threads and put a couple drops of blue loctite on them, reinstall and give nut a couple quick wacks with an impact if...

    M35A3 - Opinions Wanted !

Looking at a couple A3's a friend has, I don't need two, so was thinking of buying them and selling one . I have never owned nor even driven one of these, and prices for the few I've found for sale online are all over the pkace, from 2500. for parts trucks to 31k for a gold plated one . So...

Help a rookie paint his cucv

I painted my entire M35 water truck with 1 gallon of paint, thinned it per the instructions, used a roller and brush, no primer, laid down great, looks great . Thats All I got .

    HUMVEE Ultra4 (KOH) Build?

If I'm not mistaken those rigs use a thick cut gear on the lower ratio (numerically) case . I'm betting someone make a thick cut higher ratio (numerically) gear for the original case, that being said you should be able to lunchbox the carrier and run a set of thick cut gears in whatever flavor...
