HanksDeuce: 8" Lift, Bobbed, External Cage, A/C and more Project!

Removed the top access cover on the rebuilt transfer case. Spring, ball, and plunger assembly are same size as original transfer case that I took out. I cannot feel a firm ball detent on either low or high gear in the rebuilt transfer case. Neutral is definitely a firm detent. You can see...

HanksDeuce: 8" Lift, Bobbed, External Cage, A/C and more Project!

Drove the deuce 5 miles to a buddy's house down the street. He's gonna help me build a brush guard, shorten the bed for the spare tire rack, and a few other things. Comments on the first road trip with the new engine/tranny: - I hit 21 psi of boost pressure just under WOT. No clue what this...

Steering arm for a 8" lift.

I don't know what your time frame is like, but the Black Rock fab steering arm is definitely worth the wait.

Lieutenant Dan: Yep, I will be putting the Warn 24v 18k winch behind the front bumper and cut a rectangular hole for the roller fairlead mount. Steve6x6x6 made me 10 inch frame extensions and 19-3/4" frame backing plates. The winch bottom plate spans the width of the frame and it's 12-1/4"...

HanksDeuce: 8" Lift, Bobbed, External Cage, A/C and more Project!

My backup alarm came in. 112 dB. $55 ECCO model 850N I called Warn today and their customer service rep said they actually make a cover that will fit my Severe Duty 18 24v winch. $40 from Amazon. Part number is 91416. It's made out of neoprene. Should last a few years in the sun. Some of...

HanksDeuce: 8" Lift, Bobbed, External Cage, A/C and more Project!

I made some calls today to discuss the 12v illumination circuit for both the Autometer GPS speedo and ISSPro EV2 tachometer. Neither gauge has a separate light bulb harness like most gauges do. The Autometer GPS speedo has a rubber cover on the back, and the twist lock 12v bulb sits in a...

HanksDeuce: 8" Lift, Bobbed, External Cage, A/C and more Project!

I wish some of you morale boosters would live closer to me. Heck, I'd buy the beer just to have you sit in the driveway on a couch and cheer me on. I probably would have finished months ago! Thanks for the positive feedback. I know most that browse the hot rod forum probably hate what I've...

    Backhoe recovery with the M936A1

If that Case backhoe didn't have a brown seat cushion I bet it does now.

    m35a2 driver seat

You could always upgrade to an air ride military seat. Going price is $400-500 each (brand new) plus shipping. Not bad for a seat that retails for $2,500 (Surplus retail sticker). I just finished installing mine. The ride is much better and the seats helped me upgrade from lap belts to 3...

Here's 2 shots of my deuce frame showing the coped out area (notch) that Tom's kit addresses with both an internal backing plate as well as the top plate.

Putting a Jeep in the bed!

Outstanding job on the ramps and transporting your rig to the event without incident. For those lazy people (i.e. work smarter not harder) you can find a loading dock or the nearest levee to back up to and load & offload your rig. I'm sure one of the dirt obstacles at Rausch Creek Off-Road...

Hard Top Gaskets / Seals for Restoration Project

For those that may search and find this thread (like I did today) the sealer I ended up using is 3M Ultrapro Autobody Sealant #8300. A single tube from O'Reilly Auto Parts was $30. http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/MMM0/08300/N2356.oap?ck=Search_N2356_-1_-1&pt=N2356&ppt=C0171 For notes...

HanksDeuce: 8" Lift, Bobbed, External Cage, A/C and more Project!

I decided to replace the two leaky rear hardtop rubber seals on my deuce today. 3M Ultrapro Autobody Sealant #8300 is what I used. A single tube from O'Reilly Auto Parts was $30. I can't believe it, but a single tube was more than enough to complete the job...

    A3 to A2 Bearing Conversion

Clinto, For what it's worth I use a 3 inch PVC cleanout plug threaded into an adapter instead of a flat cap. I haven't measured the end thickness of either for comparison, but I haven't shattered the cleanout plug yet.

HanksDeuce: 8" Lift, Bobbed, External Cage, A/C and more Project!

In the past few weeks I have completed a few more big hurdles on my deuce project. No website updates just yet... - installed new transmission shifter + tower assembly - attached new 72 inch transmission shifter cable to Allison AT545 and tower (custom cable $53) - installed two new USSC...
