First step is add more fuel to the tank.
My lift pump died, my truck ran fairly well without it. Just needed to crank it longer to get it fired. The pump was old and clogged with hair and some other junk.
I ordered the new style of lift pump for $50 off of a guy here on SS. You might have a...
Those are the stumps in the corn field lol
The first pic is up in the mountains behind the old Britannia beach mine. That haze in the back ground is a cloud not fog haha
We have had very little snow here this year. Even our local mountains have taken a beating.
A few winter wonderland pictures.
This old girl has so much to give.
So much respect. If you have a willing and able operator. She will perform.
I buggered up my passenger side fender a bit. So just have to add that to the list.............of things to do.
I always call it early. If I even think the truck is bogging down I'll stop. Most of the time I have another vehicle traveling with me
I'll hook up for assistance.
There has been plenty
I also carry a testing stick. Any suspect terrain I'll throw on the chest waiters and have a look.
Not...
I already have the air o matic on the shelf, so It needs to be done. Tcase and air dryer too
In the summer of 2012 I was on a week long expedition on a trail that the deuce had no business being on. Tight, loose, and nasty. While traversing a steep switch back the front axle locked up, it was...
Over the Christmas break I'm going to be bringing my Deuce into the shop for her yearly tear down.
I have a whole lot of work to do, including installing my air shift T-case, air-o-matic steering, air dryer, and a number of other things.
She will be one **** of a nasty beast by spring. Like she...
Rustystud:
Here is my opinion on some of the questions you asked. I can only comment on the certain modifications I made to my truck.
One: Tires and Rims. I went with the 395 XML tires, I ran them for a year on the stock rims in all off road/ on road conditions. I found the tires to be a...
Took the truck out on another trip into the Canadian wilderness on the remembrance day long weekend Nov. 11.
I decided I would do something different this year. Instead of heading over to the cenotaph.
I went camping.
A few minutes before 11:00 am I fired the deuce up to charge her air tanks...
FastNova that vid describes well how the tires should look aired down. When I get my bead locks installed on my Deuce I'll go below 10 psi. I would think the run flats would prevent the tires from airing right down.
Just my opinion but I believe 50 psi is still far too high for that type of terrain. The tires should have a healthy bulge on the side wall. When you get out of the sand put them back up to what you are comfortable with. I carry a motorcycle inner tube to reset my tire beads while they are...
It's not the truck
Air down..........a lot
Open diffs or not.
My 395's on my deuce in loose terrain are set at 10-15 psi.
For sand and snow this is critical. I don't know the 5 tons however
Mounted the s-250 shelter down to the deck of the truck. Tossed a makeshift bed in there and took it out camping. Worked great!!!!!!!!!
I was bustin tree limbs off heading up the trails. Very tough little box
thanks Ray!
Ah me and a few UNIMOG guys are pretty good friends. I rib them cause they paid double or triple what I did for mine and little girls can drive the newer models lol.
Off road we are all on the same team.
WreckerRay sold me his s-250 shelter. It arrived at work a couple days ago. I've got...
Thanks plowboy,
I cracked the fuel line at the number 3 injector and the noise went away. So I'd say the injector has an issue
You guessed right that is Delta sand, it's a local off road play ground called Triangle beach.
