It's a Generac XD5000
I pull it by hand using the decomp lever and I can't pull it through once it hits TDC when the lever kicks. Now I'm not a big guy but you'd think I could at least pull it through.
That's when it pops and smokes through the intake like it almost combusted but since it...
I got this engine as a big question mark. I cannot verify if it's been apart but it doesn't look like it has been. That is my next guess is time to come apart and verify timing of everything.
The pump appears to have shims under it so I don't think it has been messed with.
One of my concerns...
Hey guys
I have an L100 engine I'm trying to get running. It's in a gen with a 1000 hours. The symptom is it will crank, come up to the compression stroke, then stop. Sometimes it will kick back and blow grayish smoke from the intake like it backfired.
So far:
-Put some new 6 gauge battery...
I think I actually threw in some fabricated hoses with the valves I sent you. I remember using blue poly fuel line for like small engine or power sport stuff. Fit perfect.
I think the hose diameter is smaller then the nipples in the valve. I remember doing something like using a short piece of a poly tubing the sleeve it. Could be wrong but I remember it wouldn't directly slide on.
That's pretty good. Imagining going over 55mph stock is funny because of the difference in gearing. I felt like the engine was going to explode with the 4.56s.
Not a problem! Hope it all works out. Don't push the back too far.
I will say two things really dial back the handling. Stock height and age springs. The clapped out reverse arch front springs at the age they are at suck.
The other huge one is stock push pull steering. I had it on my M1031 in stock form and lifted 4". It was God awful either way. If the truck...
The fancy controllers will have better control of the glow but you could use the wait to start function of the glow controller to delay the engine start timer in the gen controller. Just have to figure out if that's a switched ground or power and what input on the gen controller can be modified...
What is antiquated in stock form? My old K5 would do 75/80 no prob.
Now lifted sure, the steering is squirrelly when you hit the brakes up or a bump but that's all fixable with money.
Both of my trucks even heavily modified will hammer down the left lane as fast as you want to burn the fuel...
Wire in an auto start controller like for a diesel generator but bypass the speed shutdowns.
Then wire a remote key fob to the two wire input on the controller.
Bam...auto starting diesel CUCV.
You can fit 35s stock if you don't mind trimming the fender. The greatest gain is bumping the front axle forward but that will need crossover steering and maybe a new front driveshaft.
I wouldn't sweat the suspension and brakes. The brakes will send you through the front windshield at any...
Best way to cruise at 75mph 🤣🤣🤣
I have an M1031 which is probably 3/4 of your weight/drag. I'm able to cruise on 35s with AC on no problem but that's near sea level, not concerned about fuel economy, and certainly not passing anyone without strategic planning.
The key is a 4L80...first step in...
If you care about your vehicle don't go above the tires. It just destroys everything whether the drivetrain is sealed or not. I also think alot has to do with the duration of exposure.
Watch 4wd 24/7 on YouTube. Those boys are up to the windshield on every trip and they don't have problems. But...
If it's dying when you throttle up there is probably a fuel delivery issue or injection issue.
I think that extra fuel line only goes to a 1/4 tank. I think it's for a fuel fired heater. I remember seeing that when changing the sending unit.
Depends, how clapped out are they now? I'd say an AAL will probably help with maintaining ride height with a plow or get a little boost up but not both.
You are probably a good candidate for an appropriately rated spring.
I don't think the spring cares what axle you have but the U bolts...
If you actually want to sell this is probably your time. Personally a decent M1009 to me is a $3-5k truck. It just doesn't really have nothing special. Sure it's a clean square body so it has that. But now a days I'd guess it would be over $10k easily with the premium stuff is getting.
I...
You could go anywhere after the valve at the pump but the best place would be right at the modulator. If you have a delivery issue and take the reading up near the engine you will be chasing your tail. There is a long metal tube going down the transmission, could have a pinhole or crack.
I...
I think I have two like new condition modulators. I'd be willing to part with them cheap. I now have a 4L80 so no need for it.
Really need to take a vacuum reading at the modulator. It's going to take some time to set it up with a tee fitting and some extra hose but it's a shit in the dark...
