With work out of the way I thought I'd relax tonight with a nice lap job.
They were all in need of it too with most showing fine pitting from normal wear and erosion. The course grit removed all pitting and the fine grit gives the seats a nice smooth finish. Tomorrow comes head cleaning, valve...
Sounds like you've decided to keep chugging away. I'm glad i've stuck it out. :D The BIGGEST thing to remember with this work is think about what you WANT and STICK to it. I spent a year with the M211 gutless because I couldn't decide if I wanted to rebuild the torn apart 455 I had in it or go...
Try not to cut out the fuel pump mounting area. Otherwise you risk miss aligning things when you go to reweld the top back on. Other than that, should be a pretty easy job. Good luck! Had I not filled mine with diesel already I would probably pop the top off, pop out the dent and weld it back...
I have not touched the water pump but if it ever comes off it is going to Tony the Flying Dutchman. You'll probably pay double what you would over the counter, but it's warrantied, is rebuilt better than factory new and your supporting small business.
Flying Dutchman Remanufactured Rebuilt...
A BIG thanks to the local NAPA auto parts here in Yuma for their donation!!! A new battery and 12v alternator!!!
The 12v charging system will be completely separate from the 24v charging system. The best of both worlds and will be more reliable than relying on the voltage reducer which only had...
Well I have been told I have balls of titanium (thanks Jim), but if it were mine I would cut a large section of the top out (using as thin a wheel as possible), power wash around the baffles and weld it back up. Start with spot welding all 4 corners first. Then work your way around the tank...
Thanks for calling man, I am more than down for October, I have to see this submarine you've been talking about. I vote camp out if the forecast looks decent. I draw the line at hail.

I am glad I found this! I never considered dual alternators for the 6.2 M211 project which I have retained the 24v system on. I bought a converter for the 700r4 and other 12v electronics, but it is only rated for a continuous 360 watts. Plus it if ever fails I loose power to the 700r4 lockup...
Received the ARP head stud kit and I am giddy as heck to get the motor buttoned back up, it stays sealed up until then!
Put a little Ruger LCP on layaway today so updates on the GMC might be a little slow. Nicer weather is on it's way and the way things are looking I will likely be doing all...
POOP ON ALL THE NAY SAYER WORRIERS.
This is a great idea, I hope you continue with it. Hey, now I know why Papabear posts in bold yellow all the time. It's cool.
Proceed with your idea SIR and thanks for your service!
Pulled the heads a few days ago. Everything was in ship shape inside except for some rust flakes that fell into a few cylinders. Hardly any soot on anything. While I have the heads off I opened up the bottom end to install the girdle DSG sent me and do a main web check. Webs are all crack free...
Thanks Nattie, I'll probably do the turbo once it's up and running and driving around. I'm going to get part of the exhaust made up for now (the stack mainly) but just assume run the truck around on the HMMWV headers which shouldn't be all that loud if I am understanding things correctly, it's...
