Wanted to say THANKS to all the members here for their encouraging words. Brain seemed to have got a little overheated but I am back in black. Or dark green as it were.
Spent last night removing all the pistons. Common sense say's if the heads are already off and I need to open the bottom end...
I remember him! Oh man what the heck would I do without you guys? See what I mean? Like family. Holy Moly......

I am burned out again. I don't foresee being on the forum for awhile. Radiator came today and it looks beautiful, gotta love brand new. Removed cylinder heads on Saturday when it was 114 outside, took me all day and I wanted to die come evening time. Everything looked just fine so now I need to...
If you want to be a GMC owner you will need to be CREATIVE. They are a very easy to maintain vehicle, but can be expensive sometimes. Parts are still widely available and there are MANY way's to adapt and overcome little parts obstacles. A LOT of information has been posted here in the past...
Found this picture tonight of the differences between the early 6.2 cast rocker assemblies and the later 6.5 stamped rocker assemblies. The picture is a little past halfway down the page. Keep reading for more info:

Wow! I have never heard the GMC drive train whine from start to full speed before. These old ladies are noisy! Watched the video in full screen with headphones and it was totally like sitting in the drivers seat. It gave Gunfreak butterflies. :cookoo:
If the pulley is plastic (not familiar with the M35's just the older M series) it is likely an alternator and not the older style generator.
Is this the alternator you have?

If so I used the NSN (national stock number) of the...
How much is he asking for tires? I get mine locally for $75 each in brand new to like new condition, mounted on rims and inflated most of the time. Course I have to trade him my old tire/wheel are a core.
That 300 truck buyer sounds like Tom from Alfa Heaven. He has owned hundreds of GMC's and is an aging guru. He gave me the idea for my 6.2 700r4 conversion.
THAT IS INSANE MAN! All the little small things SHOW the biggest. The wiring harness rubber padded clamps, every screw and nut, every piece of rubber and firewall grommet. You sir, have serious problems and we love you for it. It's like looking at color version of the black and white manual...
Thank you buddy! Less than $850 away. Never thought I'd get this close. With it finished I will be able to put ALL of my time to my gun work and all of my income towards my goal of joining you canooks up there. Fortunately I'm "settin fancy free" in my current enviroment so I am really lucky in...
No, the cap is from the 455 Olds I took out of the truck when I bought it. It fits okay but I'd like to order the proper GM cap for it.
The thing on the oil filler tube is an old school crankcase breather. Just vents to the atmosphere so there's no problems with crankcase pressure. However...
I honestly don't know. This is not the 1st time I have gotten super lucky on things. This type of stuff happens a lot to me. Something told me I just needed to check. Aunt always told me to follow my gut and never be a piece of chit like my brothers are. Great woman.
No kidding! I just got a package from DSG in Canada too who donated me a 6.2 stud girdle kit for the project. I also got an email this morning from Ground Up restorations who wants to donate a brand new 4 core 65 Chevelle radiator to replace the old one I bought off ebay that turned out to be...
