Finally got my wheel cylinders today. They are all NOS and still have the black paint on them. Just a little surface rust on the machined mounting surface but the internals look absolutely brand new as do the boots and pins. I thought they were filled with oil on the inside but it appears to be...
There are some deuces in your area but they are grossly overpriced. Yeah diesel is nice but there's nothing wrong with the gas engine. I would offer $2500 too and see what happens. Keep us posted.
FYI you can pickup LDT multifuel motors still in the surplus can for $1200 or less. Would be a...
Are you going to locate and throw a proper cargo bed on it? You can get them for $500 or less. A little cleaning here and there with some fresh green paint it would look super.
I've just been told to be careful lowering an m35 tire with the hand winch as it can get away from you pretty quick. Not speaking from experience here.
Yeah the GMC tire mount is awesome. And twice as many wheel cylinders too. [slipping back quietly into the GMC section now]
You guys should look into something like the GMC's have. The spare tire sits on a rotating assembly that folds out for easy removal and installation. No lifting required or dangerous hand winching. It would be really easy to recreate.
The Military ratings for these trucks were based on practicality. A Deuce can haul 25,000lbs in the bed but it's not going to move worth a darn on any kind of hill. So the ratings shown on the data plate are what the Military found through extensive R&D to be the max load the vehicle can sustain...
Hey if diesel keeps dropping I'd love to visit moose land. I'll pick you up at the Airport in the M211 you can visit the folks then it's off roading out of town.
Bought new hub seal flange sleeves today from Ebay. Time to get my wheels on! Fuel system is rigged up and ready for fuel. I want to...
Yes, you will want that top dog bone to keep the axle housing as secure to the chassis as possible. I will take a look at my truck tomorrow and get back with you on a possible solution. If the top dog bone frame mount is riveted on it would be a very simple process of removing the rivets and...
Run a piece of sand paper around the very bottom edge of the cylinders. It should already be beveled for ease of piston installation though. They could be bigger!
Thank you HendersonD for the heads up on ebay wheel cylinders. I scored the last 12 NOS ones and from what HendersonD told me they are in great shape inside and out. Which means that I am down to 1 final large purchase which is 4 new tires.
After that it's just a matter of all the small stuff...
Not to change the subject but just how thick are the vinyl ones? I want to pick one up for the 211 and paint it with vinyl paint so the sun doesn't eat it up. Really completes the look of a deuce.
