Its a build in progress iv been working on for 3.5 yrs. I can either do a design change and spend a bit more $$$, or throw money at r&d and hope it works long term or throwing more $$$ at building it as the plans called for. Plus iv got 1000s of lbs of pecan logs i need to mill or pay half the...
Iv got drive shaft lord mount isolators off our helicopter that get replaced for the smallest of cracks yet are still very much in good shape. My plan is to put the ignition/gauge panel from the gen cart the eng came off of, back on and use 4 mounts top and bottom to absorb the vibes.
Before i would ever consider dropping that much $$$ i wanna now how reliable these thing are. But that is also way more than i want to spend right now. But thanks for the link.
Iv got a 4bt cummins rated at 100hp @2000 rpm for a power plant, and that wont change. As for the gen head im looking at, it is a stamford.
I am wanting the KISS method of building my own generator if no one has any input regarding the 30k generators, let alone positive input for reliability.
What is the amp rating on that switch? Im sure its more than 60 amps. If so, great, that’ll allow me to feed into a pdp.
Each motor has a different amp draw, requiring 3 different breakers. If i want to add later, as long as the main switch is large enough.
@Evvy
I do not have a shop per say. My hm power is 1ph from the lines feeding my svc pole, through the meter and into the house. My “shop” is wired for 1ph using 3 legs (2 hots and a neutral/ground) of 00 wire from my svc pole to a 200 amp breaker panel.
My mill will be powered by a 15hp, 5hp...
Looking for a 3ph generator to power my sawmill and as a backup emergency hm genny or any other offsite electrical needs.
I cant remember whom i was talking to, not sure if it was in person, telephone, on here or maybe FB. Whomever and wherever, told me these prior mil gen sets have a failure...
@kendelrio
I was thinking about the manual xmsn issue not having a neutral safety switch. Since you are smarter than i am with electrical. Could using a limit switch that when the shifter is in the N position, the switch is closed, once out of position, it opens the switch.
Ken, the answer to your question, yes a remote start can be installed. If you can find a 24v dc module already on the market, built for mechanical engines.
If not premade, maybe using a 12v unit tapped off a battery to energize the initial signal wire on the pcb solenoid/s or a stand alone 24v...
Same as we do on our acft and i do before making a long trip or haul equip. We daily/pmcs/pre-flight in conjunction with the post flt/post-trip at the end of the duty day. All we have to do is wait on a call the next day. I do my pre-trip/pmcs the afternoon/evening before heading out. If i had...
What part is semantic?
I’ll ask it again.
Who said they wouldnt do a pmcs before driving off just bc of a remote start option?
What does doing a pre/post trip have to do with a remote start?
@Weldman
Who is saying not doing a pmcs before throwing it in gear and going somewhere?
What does doing or not doing a pmcs have to do with remote cranking so air is built and eng fluids are coming up to temp?
I too have a cdl as do 10s of 1000s of other people and some dang sure shouldnt...
Wouldnt see what happening?
As for no oil psi and running till it doesnt, that supports ndt and weldman’s reply about wanting to watch the gauges after the eng started.
Will the eng shut down timer burn the controller out if the eng doesnt shut down?
When ken posted this thread, i tried finding info on older diesels with electrical shut down solenoids.
Only issues people were complaining about were glow plug timers not activating, first time failed starts due...
Yes, i understand that. My 936A2 has to be shut down manually bc the solenoid crapped out.
Im not understanding what that has to do with starting the tck remotely.
What is the problem that exists with the engine stop with the remote starts? Is it by-passing the shut off solenoid when attempting to start, or when trying to shut the engine off?
There was a hard top on a fb military tck group. Not sure if its still there. Let me check a d i’ll report back
Edit: it is not there any longer. It was a fiberglass for $500. If i come across another hard top, ill try to remember and update this post.
i wish it was wholesale. @ $100 a gallon, that is $2800 in just epoxy, with about $600 turned into thin plastic shavings/chips. plus I'm not making any $$$ on this. It is a belated wedding gift. I am not sure of the style table legs they are going with, but if they request me to build them, then...
That’ll be 3-4 yrs from now. I need to finish up my sawmill, or have it slab up early nxt yr and get it to air drying for 2-3 yrs before sending it to a kiln for 6-8 wks to get the moisture content down to about 7-9% l. But iv got some pecan i salvaged from west Louisiana that is starting to get...
