After stripping the insulation back from where i thought the wire goes, i could see that it indeed was crimped with another wire. While trying to solder the wire to the terminal, i inadvertently, desoldered the other end. Gotta strip some more insulation tomorrow and try to solder everything...
Looks like the gold colored resistor is blown. This is off the parts truck. The following are from the “original” alt.
The disconnected wire looks to be disconnected from just above the loose wire in the last photo. That connection looks to be the wire’s “natural” point of rest.
Blown...
How often is it the voltage regulator is the cause of low voltage output? the pull off alt from my parts truck shows 4.08v dc, 3 volts higher than the alt that came off the truck. I see that eastern surplus has a voltage regulator for sale...
Im not measuring wrong. The alt might not be running at full power, but its producing just enough to keep them topped off. Those voltage numbers were also before driving it. After driving it with all lights on, the voltage was 24.7. So its safe to assume its trickling just enough volts to top off.
Id like to piggy back please.
Monday, i went on a short test drive to see if leaving the exhaust side on my svc brake chamber open at the tee made a difference on the dragging. I scanned my gauges about a mile from my house and noticed my charging gauge, with head and svc lights on, was sitting...

https://www.yardstore.com/short-screw-extractor-screw-knocker-old-man-4 here is an old man. They did add an apex bit holder to the work end, but even then, a 1/4"dr. 1/4" or 3/8"dr socket adapter can be used.
Air hammers/chisel guns will work, but don't have the control-ability for...
You are like me, blind in one eye, and cant see out the other.
I too am not good at staying center all the way through. That is why about 15 yrs ago i switched to welding a washer to the bolt, then a nut and building the weld up inside the nut to add more contact surface area a d ability to...
Why useless? For my purpose, its 80% built for a trailer. Add a tq tube, axles and V the front out for a pintle plate.
But my main query pertaining to my original post is, what would civi folks possibly want them for, scrap weight (doesnt seem enough wt. for scrap), manufacturer buying cheap...
You have an oxy/acet rig and a rosebud? That’ll get it red hot. But ya gotta watch out how much high heat you let transfer. Could cause a hidden internal failure in the head.
Curiosity though. Why are gonna over drill and heli-coil all them? Would a bottom tap not work?
I came across this, it looks to be for the MAXPro or Pro Plus since it has a single spring hanger set. https://www.govplanet.com/jsp/s/item/5690809?do=1
auction has closed, and some were going for cheap (under $500), and the other two auctions went for a decent price (under $1000). I was...
Iv seen heavily rusted items put into evaporust and using a cart style battery charger ( https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/NBC90156?impressionRank=2 ) and sacrificial piece of steel with the + terminal clipped to it, suspended in the solution and the - terminal clipped to the rusted work piece...
I did a google search but couldnt find anything on that. Can you elaborate or post a link?
Im thinking of having the wife get hers so she can drive a 5tn.
I was just curious how things were going with the tear down. Im gonna have to dive into a crane winch gearbox and cable drum since I'm leaking gear oil from the gb and the non powered side, the bearing looks to be worn out since its wobbling in the mount. unfortunately, the bearings and seals...
@KN6KXR
The other motor doesnt have a drain port, and i guess i need to pull the allen head pipe plug and drill a small hole in it to relieve any potential pressure build up and leak through on the inner shaft seal. When i pulled the plug on disassembly, a little fluid came out.
The motor...
If this has been posted before, sorry for the duplicate topic. I did try the search function using different key words but no luck.
After installing the winch motor, i decided to drain and service the gearbox. When i rmvd the gearbox drain plug, a milky white mixture came flowing out. Instead...
Evidently i got the assembly of the motor right. The output shaft could be turn easily by hand before disassembly, but needed a socket on the square drive portion of the shaft to line the keyways up. I ran the motor both directions from, paying all the way out and back in 10x with no leakage.
