saving military communications gear at hamfests

As a lifelong amateur radio operator and general “nerd”, a major problem, if not the problem with this niche of collecting, is the non-radio military personnel realizing what they have. 2005 was perhaps the height of the War on Terror and some posts were doing all they could to repurpose...

    BRDM-2 street legal.

The translation of the BRDM acronym results in something like “wheeled armored reconnaissance vehicle”. In my many years of being familiar with Warsaw Bloc vehicles, and particularly with the BRDM2, I’ve never heard of it referred to as a tank. A quick check online shows a generally-accepted...

    M1008 Snow Plow Set Up

I have a belt-driven Fisher Speedcast on my M1009. No need for any changes to the electrical system! Here in the northeast these systems are very easy to come by and are sitting unused but serviceable in many a place. Here’s the ol’ gal in action.

CUCV2/CUCV-II Owners, post pics and info of your truck

We should call that shade “USDA Green” as all of the LSSVs they use in my area are faded just like that.

Wife wants me to do the unthinkable due to the Florida DMV debacle!

@FlameRed The (anticipated) license plate number should be printed on your validation decals. If you have it, run it here to find out what the status is: https://secure.vermont.gov/dmv/express Scroll down and fill in the form as if you’re going to renew your registration. The next page will...

    Found remnants of a decal…

That was my thought as well. Although just as likely to be lettered at the base of the windshield.

The transaction has happened and the registration is on its way to you. Speaking as a Vermonter.

Using your CUCV as a generator

Better yet...put in an NP205 if you don’t have one already, find a PTO-driven generator, and win. Disclaimer: I know PTO-driven generators exist, but I don’t know how they are hooked up to the vehicle or set up for use.

CUCV Snow Plow Trucks and Spreaders

Did you post your desires here in the forum? I know at least one person in Vermont with a complete Fisher Speedcast setup for sale, and another whom is a member here and if I recall has everything but the blade.

    V100 on display in Wisconsin

If it’s a prototype, I’d hope it would be stored indoors or cared for better than always sitting outdoors exposed to the elements. That looks like a static display to me.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Excellent! What tires are you running?

    FL Registration Service

Up here in Vermont anyone can register anything regardless of where you reside. Check the state DMV website for the forms you need.

    Canadian ferret 54-82589

I was unaware that they are hard to find; my wife was given a metal one dated 1955 that I’m sure she would want to sell.
