All the tricks you need to know to repair your winch can be found in this thread: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/winch-teardown-q.80417/
Also, in this good old TM, Chapter 18 (starting on page 346) you will find very good images and detailed info on how to dis- and reassemble your...
I think the M275A1 and -A2 both came with a vertical stack exhaust, including a spark-arrestor-type muffler (?)
Also, the only one -A1 I have seen still had the Sprag T-case.
Or.... you could always store it tilted up 45⁰, filled up to the top after unscrewing the breather...;)
Seriously: Don't do that, these things are not so delicate. Just smear plenty of grease on all moving parts of your "new" top cover; pour fresh gear oil all over the gear cluster while...
Yeah, 1st - N - REV is a rather long travel, compared to the other gears. In its original application it pretty much takes up all the room between seat and dash.
I see the need for the extra-bends in your case, but that piece of angle iron there...☹ (not very factory-looking, if you allow MHO)...
My thought, also.
No. I thought it was clear from what I posted above?
Below is a photo from the super-nice ORD 9 SNL G-742 parts book (printed 65 years ago and so much better than all later versions...!)
That short lever only comes out after you have removed almost every other component...
Yes, it is.... and Memphis has (used to have) most parts, including the hard-to-find shift plate (#7521063) - which is one of the typical wear items.
No bushing there; lever has what's called a spherical hinge. A spring loaded (brass) seat (#7521096) at the bottom end keeps it in place, pressed...
Ditto, 100%.
Almost correct .... but if you want to be 100% accurate, it's actually 16 "points" - plus the whole circumference around the pilot hole - that makes contact, after the lug nuts are all torqued down.
IMHO, wear (on the spacer) should only occur if the wheel became loose, somehow...
Yes, 10 -11 inches. Problem is, 335/80R20 - as well as 365/80R20 are MPT-style tires and require special MPT rims (like what the A3 has).
The beat seats on our stock M35A2 wheels are not compatible with MPT tires!
Ha-ha, same happened to me and it drove me crazy for a couple days... secret codes, everywhere! Then next day it just stopped bothering - (and I thought it was me who clicked on something and got it fixed...):giggle:
Thanks, will try that (and report back, eventually... ;)
Anyway...
Yeah but that doesn't help me much if I wanted to merge two threads (?) At least in my case it just selects the whole post and then gives me these choices:
Now, at the top right of each thread, next to "WATCH", those three dots bring up some more options, but still not what I wanted...
The manual Deuce transmissions actually are "dog-leg" style transm., in the sense that 1st and REV are placed in a separate, spring-loaded shift rail, to the left of central/neutral position.
Only thing odd would be 5th-OD for the 3053 model, which goes to the right and up - where you would...
Hah., Wes... somehow those pictures look familiar to me... lol ;)
(Although the corresponding drawing should be this one...
But the point is YES, FMTV wheels can be converted to any desired center lug-pattern, using a flat steel plate bolted to either the wheel's outer- or inner side, via...
