Everyone,
Yesterday, I picked up a MEP 831A generator set for $400. Has a little enclosure damage. The upper fan unit was missing. Pull start was removed due to the rope breaking. The positive wire side for the battery was cut. Solar charger wires & the upper fan wires were cut. Moved it by...
One is the rear kickstand. Since I put smaller tires on, it is to long to be useful really! I took it off to see if I could just unscrew the foot all the way & have it machined down a few inches. Apparently, it can't be done... at least by hand. Didn't dig much farther yet.
Second one is a...
Was out in the garage late last night after work doing some more things.
Made a bracket with some extra space in case I decide to add another outlet box. Moved the outlets from the side of the generator to this bracket. Easier access. Also keeps the generator clean as I plan to have my wife...
Glad you got it running.
Some experience from my re-build with batteries... get good ones even if you're not in the cold. I had some cheap lawn mower batteries that worked for about a year. Then, when I needed my generator, it wouldn't start. The diesel engine on this unit may not look big...
I put a hose barb on first but liked the idea of the hose better. Had an older washer machine hose from work. Cut on end so it can be run below the trailer & train into a bucket or whatever. Remove it quickly when done. As a backup, you can put the hose fitting cap on as well so it by some freak...
Did some work today. Added picture of the pump setup to my last post.
Biggest thing I did was install the proper damper shock for the surge brakes.
The main reason why I think this shock is different than others similar is that it really isn't a shock... it's just a damper. It will no spring...
Did some more work today since parts came in. Added pictures of the fuel pump setup to my previous post about it.
Adapter came in & I got the hose hooked up. Works out great!
Put a street 90 & hose adapter on the oil drain. Will put a cap on it. Have an old hose that I made to go with it that...
Not sure if this will help you at all but I did a build off an old MEP-501A engine. Ended up selling it, but I made a video explaining what I did & that it worked. May at least give you some ideas? Kind of wish I kept it after all the work I did.

Did a little more work today.
Fuel pump, filter, & hose fittings installed. Had to modify the suction piping on the pump since it was to long. Removed the telescoping part, trimmed it to 3/4in above the tank bottom, & cut 2 V's into it. Sprayed the tank a bit to see how the pain will coat...
On another note... mostly fixed the leaky fuel fill on the generator itself... I had no idea that there was an open & close setting for the vent. Had been in open. I filled it up to full when I got fuel for the 50 gallon tank & did some quick stops on the way home. Very little leakage. Possible...

I guess since it was being abused in Texas, they make you request a permit number in order to buy off-road diesel. It doesn't cost anything to have but you have to apply. Similar to how you need to apply for an agriculture number here in order to not pay sales tax instead of just being able to...
ATI has the DOT Exemption approval with them so they're approved for on road transport. There's a large placard on the side for it... part of the reason why the tank is so much more costly than other options. Doesn't mean there hasn't been rule changes. I'm calling about dyed diesel permit from...
Sure!
Aluminum Tank Industries model ATI-TTR50 with the tabs welded in a different place so they match the rails on the trailer.
Here are the dimensions that I ordered. It is a 50 gallon tank.
Here is a link to where I ordered from...
Tank came in Thursday as expected. Didn't get to even open it until today. House was hit with lightening this week & have been dealing with repairs.
Did mount the tank today! Tabs lined right up as I measured. Had to trim one a bit to get the right angle ball valve on. No big deal. Nice &...
