    2015 LA steel soldiers rally

Some of the locals only come for Saturday, but most everyone else leaves for home on Sunday morning.

    Red's deuce/camper project

With that roller, one of those 18,000 lb MRAP winches mounted at the front of the bed is almost a requirement.

How does stuff get declared scrap?

I'll bet GL or GP would love to sell some of the stuff listed as scrap. There is a current scrap auction somewhere with a 1973 CJS jeep, several M1101 trailers, and a couple mobile elec shelters. I've seen large 30 yd rolloff dumpsters loaded to overflowing with tents and shelters headed to...

    m1102 trailer mods

If you pull the runflat out of the spare, that will reduce some of the weight on the rear. If you need to replace a ruined tire, you can pull the runflat from the ruined tire to install in the spare at your leisure.

    2015 LA steel soldiers rally

Oh Man, That's Terrible!! Glad it was not COM. Hard to drive a Deuce with only one arm. Anything I can do to help out with your Ft Polk recovery commitments or anything else I can help with, let me know.

    Is my M101A2/3 stock?

Just a guess, but that rack looks substantial, and may have been built to carry sheets of drywall or plywood above other building supplies. With one sheet of plywood as a floor on the rack, you could also have a 2-compartment storage trailer for camping or traveling. Take the rack out if you...

From one border to the other in a deuce and m105

Make sure you do a brake check before you hit the downgrades in the Rockies and Cascades . Safe trip.:driver:

Did they ever make an Armored Cab upgrade package for M939 series cabs? (I.E. M923A2)

You don't often think of such support vehicles in a conflict, but I've also seen uparmored bulldozers and road graders at Ft Polk.

Was Stuck in M923A2, learned many lessons

Glad you're out, and thanks for the lessons. Hope I never need to use the info, but Murphy strikes when you're least prepared. I would have done a 3-point turn at a road intersection as you did, not expecting that the side road was a mud hole under the snow.

    2015 TX MV Rally

I'd like a T-shirt. Making the next rally always depends on the actual date.

    939a0 designation debate

I have an XM105E3 1964 Ordnance Stock, Inc. (identical to M105A2). Maybe it's the 3rd iteration of the prototype? While I've been guilty of using the A0 suffix when discussing the various models , I usually say "dually M931", but in writing I usually just put M931. Probably "the basic model...

    2015 TX MV Rally

Since this was my first TX Rally, I never met the Mannings, but I pray they find some comfort during this stressful period. Let me say that I had a blast, both at the museum and the camping area, and wish to thank Nofearnohope and everyone else who had a hand in getting the rally...

    2015 TX MV Rally

Looks like I'll arrive around mid or late afternoon baring any vehicle issues with my M1031 CUCV and M1101 trailer. Map program shows about 375 miles by way of US190 and FM-30. Haven't been back to BCS in over 20 years. Probably can't find the trailer park on Finfeather that we lived in...

M1009 in bed of my M923A2 5 ton???

I agree with 98G, compress the suspension as much as possible to reduce the bouncing. Do you have the front shackle mounts still? I would think it would be easier to flat tow the M1009. I'm just leaving my towbar attached since I tow my CUCV occasionally behind 5-ton trucks. PS - it took 3...

    2015 TX MV Rally

This conflicts with posts #34 and 35 on page 4. So we can't just set up and sell out of the back of our MVs at the museum? Do we need to have a swap meet at the offroad park? Just confused since this is my first time to this rally.

    2015 TX MV Rally

Hey JS and Tim, I'm using deodorant now - that infamous B.O. problem  is a thing of the past. I've cleaned the horse manure off my boots and also changed my diet to reduce fiber. I'll take the downwind drag position if you want. You don't need to make up excuses. Alright, I'll travel...

    2015 TX MV Rally

Looks like I'm now firm to attend with one truck or another. Any interest in a convoy for the LA contingent? Like Tim, I'm flexible with time.

    new to steel soldiers

Another southern welcome from LA. Most A1 versions have 14.00x20 single tires, but if your data plate says A1, somewhere along the way it was converted back to 11.00x20 tires, duals in the rear. I actually like the smaller tires as the big ones are back breakers.

Mntsnow's recovery and building of The Beast

If you're planning on driving in snowstorms, I'd consider facing the intake nozzle to the rear. Down here, I'd worry about our monsoon rains drowning the air filter
