Last week we picked up a running M931 and M931A1 from GP's storage yard in Brooklyn, MS. Reading GP inspections of both trucks gave the impression that you could just jump start the trucks and drive away. It's not so much what is in the...
Does your truck start within 1-2 seconds when the temp is above 40-50 or so? If not, you may be loosing prime, and when the fuel is colder, it is harder for the engine to re-prime itself.
Aside from protecting the bed as you mentioned, for the manual shift trucks like your deuce, the most common use I've seen is using another truck to push-start a dead truck.
Yep, I've hit my head on the door bottom and other locations under a truck. Banged my noggin just last week.....or couple of weeks ago?.....maybe a month? Gee, I don't remember stuff as well as I used to
Welcome!
I think your FJ has a 5000 lb towing capacity, so you should be able to tow your M1101 trailer OK. You might have to make some mods to the trailer or hitch to get it to travel level, though.
The tech manual for the trailer is at...
Sorry to hear your problems. I've been broke down in MVs four times and know the feelings that run through you.
If you've bypassed the selector, replaced all the fuel lines and filter, that leaves either end of the fuel system. Just throwing out possibilities from my vast level of ignorance...
If I owned a tiny 1000 acre or bigger ranch in west Texas, or played in the western deserts, a HMMWV beats a similarly priced UTV in my opinion. But in the forest roads of the east, it's just too wide. I think the prices are coming down as the limited off-road market is saturated (and the...
That photo takes me back. I was taught to ride and jump by an old calvary sergeant at Ft Meade. That old man was rough as a cob, but he knew how to train horsemen. I also cleaned stables to help pay for lessons.
Sorry for the sidetrack.
Marty Robbins is also one of my favorite singers...
You'll be telling your grandchildren about the time the snowmageddon superstorm Juno hit your area and everyone was forced to eat French toast for weeks because they wiped out all the milk, eggs and bread from the stores. Has anyone from the Weather Channel knocked on your door yet?
Not...
So much of our industrial base has been exported, that if we ever put a trade embargo on China, the USA will quickly grind to a halt. :soapbox:
If you can identify a list of critical spares for your truck, you might think of picking some up. The price will not go down in the future as long as...
Thanks for the pics. The hardtop needs some cosmetic work, but the truck looks straight and rust free. The winch is at least a $1000 upgrade. The fiberglass sides and winch kick up the value to a better deal on the price. If the mechanics are good and you want a Deuce, I would buy it.
Price depends on condition, and 6K is at the top end of the scale, but not out-of-line today for an excellent condition runner. Take up Jeepsinker's offer to inspect it with you - his expertise is worth paying for.
Remember when you get it, we require photos!
Congrats on your Deuce! Don't be intimidated by all the TM manuals. Just read the Operators Manual (the one with the -10 at the end), and use the others for reference for specific issues.
The GL ladies at Ft Polk will probably use a fork lift to lift the tongue so you can fold back the landing leg and put the lunette on your hitch. I use Gorilla tape to secure the magnetic lights after having a couple bouce off, as well as the trailer chains. I use a bolt-on crank hitch from...
That's a good idea, also. I use my tow bar all the time so I need easy access, but if I carried it in case of a rare breakdown, I'd probably put it higher on the truck like that, or secure it in the bed.
