I'm just getting thru fixing up my M818 tractor pulling an M871 semi trailer. SONJC is correct about hooking up the air lines. You have to hook up the emergency line gladhands then open the air valve handle. To park or set the trailer brakes, you have to shut off the air valve handle and...
Make sure you use a "fitting" wrench-sometimes called an air conditioning wrench. It is a 6 point that wraps around the fitting with a slot just big enough for the tubing to slip thru and it is much thicker and stiffer than a regular end wrench. It doesn't spread apart and round the corners...
Can you post photos of the D ring attachment. Does it appear to be factory or an add-on? Am planning on adding D rings to a similar trailer(an M871) and would like to see how it was done. Thanks.
Dilvoy has sold all of his kits. I bought two(2) of them for a future project, but it looks like I won't need them. I will sell them for $300 each(same price as Dilvoy). They are still crated ready for shipment or pickup.
My 818 was leaking a minute amount of air thru the schrader valve at the top of the fuel filter and it did a similar thing. Screw a valve stem cap onto the schrader valve and see if it helps. Is so, then remove valve and plug with a 1/8 NPT plug.
Checked the bulbs. Both filaments good. There is only one center pin on the bulb so the filaments are redundant. This means that for some reason power does not get to the bulb.
Good question. Valves or hose or something leaking big time and I really don't want to mess with it as I am not going to use 6X6-just hiway driving. My concern is that by disconnecting air line, I don't want to damage anything.
I just won an M818 and got it home. Have a weird problem with stop lights that hopefully someone can help with. The rear turn signals work on both sides(L & R) with the headlight switch in both positions- Service Stop and Service Drive. The problem is that the R Stop light works correctly in...
Let me see if I get this right. If I disconnect and plug off the air supply line to the valves on the transmission, then I will not have front wheel drive permanently, but I will still have normal rear wheel drive under all conditions and I could use the M818 as if it was a 6X4 regular...
Found VIN # exactly where Warthog said to look. Problem was that even after sanding off paint, stamping was so light you could barely read it. Carnac gave me info on its history. Waiting for SF97 now.
