Hello everyone! Just for the heck of it I replaced both my manual air tank drain valves. It was below thirty degrees out and my hands were pretty darned cold at the end of it. I just started Brutus up and was surprised to find that he still had 60psi of air in him............after 30 hours of...
Digger...70+ in a Deuce? Now that would be hairy!
Sinker...you just had to mention an LDS motor. Now my brain will be working overtime!
Gents...I'm going to retire in March 2015. I won't have as much money, so I will probably have to scale back my dreams/projects some.
I would like to know how your electric wiper install goes. My air wipers usually go two different speeds at the same time. The driver's side usually quits all together when I throttle the air down enough to prevent the passenger side wiper from becoming a propeller.
Hi Digger and Sinker!
I recently found that my speedometer consistently reads 2mph below what my GPS says I'm doing with 11R-20s in 5th gear. My bobber has stock gearing and does 52 mph (GPS) at 2300 rpm. That's the hardest I care to drive it. My dream is an LDS liner kit, injection pump and...
I registered Brutus for the annual October Truck Fest at OK 4WD in Stewartsville N.J. Brutus was surrounded by lots of lifted and heavily modified civvy Jeeps and 4wd pickups. Many of which could have been on the cover of any off roading magazine. I had a great time letting all of the boys and...
I love my T831s. I do have a front rub problem because I have hydraulic power steering. The outer diameter of the inside tread rubs against the power steering arm on hard right turns. It doesn't seem to hurt the treads, but it has me limiting how tightly I turn to the right. The hydraulic power...
CB radio install
Brutus got a new CB radio this week. So far my reception is weak and almost totally static. I wonder if my placement of the antenna through the upper mirror support arms has anything to do with that. Some advice from the radio savvy among us would be greatly appreciated by us.
Nice truck. I wish you many happy miles in it. I agree with WildChild.....spin on oil filters are a must and very easy to do. Your oil pressure will come up much faster after installing them.
I installed a zipper boot on the driver's side. I had already done the passenger side. The original zipper boot was not clamped to the knuckle which allowed water and road salt in. It had crystallized under the boot by the lower kingpin bushing. Getting the inside clamp on was not too bad, but...
I have the same issues with oil leaks on my transmission and transfer case. I already replaced the seals and gaskets on the upper shafts of both, but I neglected to use any type of RTV on the gaskets and bolts. Big mistake. I'm going to have to pull the short shaft and do it all over again.
I...
I decided to test out my zipper boot install by driving my Colt Python to the pistol club for some practice. I took a different route. Without thinking I drove smack dab into a hilly neighborhood right at the time dozens (I kid you not) of kids were walking home from school. I got a few waves...
Well Steve, this one has been sitting in front of a trucking company for six or seven years. The paint is faded and the chrome is beginning to rust. It has not been moved and a tiny pine tree grew up next to it to be about 12' tall. It's pretty straight body wise and the interior is clean and...
I have to admit to using some colorful language myself. I actually told Brutus I was going to trade him for a B-61 Mack if he didn't start cooperating with me.
Mine was full of holes too. The inner clamp was not too hard, but after four hours of struggling to get the outer circumference of the boot to stay on the knuckle long enough for me to clamp it, I finally gave up. I asked my son to come over and help me. With an extra pair of hands We were able...
I changed the oil in my front differential. I used Super Tech GL-5 from Wal Mart. I had to do it because my drain plug was leaking and I wanted to stop it. So far it looks dry. I also went for a few short drives. Next up for me is zipper boots. I'm reading up on it now. I also have new fuel...
