I run 11R-20s on my bobber. Firestone T-831s. Stock rims. No problems. 85psi on the steers and 55psi on the rears. My duals do not touch and my truck drives great....for a Deuce.
Greased my chassis on Tuesday. Drove Brutus to work. Decided to double clutch upshifts. Much smoother! On the way home little cars and trucks were darting around me like goldfish in a tank of piranhas. Coasted up to their stopped asses at the next N.J. light....double clutch downshift and the...
I just replaced my upper transfer case oil seal a few weeks ago and put new universals on the short shaft while I was at it. The new seal has started leaking. I should have inspected that darn vent while I had the covers off. I wonder if a non-functioning vent could cause the seal to leak? The...
Spin on Fuel Filters
Sorry if I posted this before. The day before the alternator replacement, I installed Jatonka's spin on primary and secondary fuel filter adapters with Wix filters. It was very easy to do. I filled the new filters with fuel before I installed them, so there was no problem...
I installed a Woltech single wire 70 amp alternator. Boy those lower mount/pivot bolts are hard to get a wrench on. I wish the engineers had flipped the mounting tabs 90 degrees so they faced up instead of down. It would have been much easier to do. I twisted the heck out of my right shoulder...
Last Saturday my son Dan and I showed our trucks at the Antique Truck Club of America show in Macungie PA. I drove my bobber and Dan drove his '64 F100. It was a muddy blast! The owner of a Unimog and I used his truck and my recovery strap and D-ring to pull a gorgeous 1950 Mack LJ out of the...
Oh. Now I understand. My entire parking brake mechanism seems to be coated with about an inch of grease buildup. I myself have always had a God given talent for getting grease and oil all over me whenever I work on anything. Especially Brutus.
Oh hey guys, how do I list a description of my green metal pal at the bottom of my posts? I would like it to read something like "truncated 1984 AM General M35A2C". Thanks.
I agree with splinter with the exception that I just check each circuit for continuity. My troubleshooting regimen goes wire continuity, loose connection at the sender, bad Packard fitting, sender, and lastly the gauge itself. I replaced all of my gauges, the gauge spider, and my senders. I'm...
Whatadeuce,
Your parking brake drum looks pretty oil soaked. Mine was too. The culprit was my transmission output shaft seal. I replaced it and put new universals on the short shaft while I was at it. Now, the underside of my Brutus is dry. My parking brake handle takes all of my strength to...
I changed the gear oil in my transmission and transfer case using yellow metal friendly Wally Mart GL-5. The oil I drained out of my transfer case looked horrible. It was runny, cloudy, and the color of liquified mud. I guess a previous owner must have driven Brutus through a large body of...
Brian,
No, they were as good as the day they were installed. My seals were gushing gear oil (especially the transmission output) so I had to remove the shaft. I ordered the u-joints with the seals just in case they were needed and decided to install them anyway. It was a lot of work for a 61...
Supe,
A bobber is the same length more or less as a full sized American pickup truck. It fits in one space. I drive mine almost anywhere I'd drive my car. Haven't tried a drive up Mac machine yet though.
