Newbie Looking at my first deuce

Matt, I echo Splinters suggestions and add: Check the tires for dry rot. Check the visual conditions of the batteries and cables. Take a hard look under the truck at the transmission and transfer case oil seals where the drive shafts enter and exit the transmission and transfer case. I'm...

is a bobbed deuce a practical daily driver?

I hear you on losing the utility. I plan on an air ride suspension on my bobber one day to get the load carrying capacity up a bit higher. Other than that, I love driving my bobber. Brutus is pretty maneuverable for a large vehicle and he fits right in my apartment complex parking spaces...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I replaced my transmission output and transfer case input seals. I also installed new u-joints on the drive shaft that connects them. Our test drive was a success. I hope to replace the other two transfer case seals and the remaining four u-joints soon.

    M275 Towing Pics

Wrecker...don't give up on that LDS! You'll get it in one day! Horsepower and torque are good. My 11R-20s have treads that would put most earth movers to shame, but they ride smooth as heck on the highway. An LDS powered M275 on 11Rs would be fantastic!

    M275 Towing Pics

Thanks for your reply! As a note, I've observed, that when my tach and speedo needles were jumping around, it was just before they failed. I've since replaced both cables and my tach and speedo both operate smoothly and accurately.

    M275 Towing Pics

That is a neat rig you have there! Must be great to have LDS power! My bobber runs 11R-20 tires and he does about 2,300 rpm at 50 mph. Do the tractors have 6.72 differentials also?

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I didn't work on my bobber this week, but my son and I did manage to get a small block Ford 302 I rebuilt running again for the first time in 12 years! I swapped it into a 1952 Dodge pickup. We hope to finally have him on the road this summer.

new, deuce one piece 22.5" rims??

I just missed Rausch Creek last year. My starter engaged and ground itself into my ring gear as I was cruising along at 45mph. I'll have to take a day off as I work weekends, but I hope to be there!

new, deuce one piece 22.5" rims??

Awesome! Can you give us the name of the recycle yard so we can inquire about them? Thanks!

new, deuce one piece 22.5" rims??

I am indeed missing four. I really like the last picture of your truck in the dirt. Mine worked well in snow this year. How do the Ts perform in dirt? Sweet camo paint and it seems you have a Donaldson muffler as do I. Lancaster? Not too far from Phillipsburg. I really must look into the 22.5...

    T-831s Sorry for the delay.

new, deuce one piece 22.5" rims??

Hello all, I believe the 11 as in 11R-20 refers to the height of the tire from the ground to the rim and not the width of the tire. In other words, the sidewalls of an 11R-20 tire are 11 inches high. Hence, a 10R-20 would have 10 inches of sidewall. I run Firestone T-831 11R-20s myself and I can...

    11.00R20 Michelin XL tire pressure?

Hey Sandy, It's nice to hear from a fellow T-831 owner. Great tires. I'm surprised your outer lugs aren't touching pavement. My dueled F-stones sit dead nuts square on the pavement at 55 psi. Don't know what to say about that. I can tell you that my Ts left some very awesome looking tracks in...

    ATPTac has a new deuce

Nice bobber! I'm jealous of your winch.

    11.00R20 Michelin XL tire pressure?

I run the same pressures in my Firestone T-831s. Running at 80 psi in the steers stopped my truck from wandering all over the place. Anything much over 50 psi unloaded in the rears will have you catching air over bumps.

Replacing input/output shaft seals on transfercase, any pointers?

You really do know your stuff!!! Always informative. Thanks for helping all of us out!
