the only shop near me charged me $60 a rod to take the old out and put the new ones in when I was working on my m269 low boy and the m131a5c tanker the trailer torque rod are a little shorter . in the picture is both top torque rods they have a wave to them and a little twist to them .
Changing out torque rods on m52a2 bought these torque rods from SS M1075 last year . I spent a few days putting them in also replaced the rubber brake lines and a pinion seal . it really helps to mark the cotter key holes . kenny
the air cylinder is used to just shift the dogs when they are in or out . then shift the switch back to the middle position this bleed the air and shift lever can be shifted from out side like normal . the clutch in the truck should be used to stop the winch from pulling the load not trying...
even with two people operating the winch one of them is still to close to the winch the driver can only see there head and has no idea where there hands are .the remote control work for me even the idea of a rod and a lever that lets the operator stand to the side of the truck sounds much...
I was able to add a air cylinder to the winch on my 5ton I bought every thing off ebay . the switch has a neutral position in the center so when you shift it let the winch turn enough to engage turn the switch back to neutral . the switch is used to shift the dog in or out and not to hold...
Consolidated fright had air starters on there trucks years ago . the electrical system would be real simple with air starter . the air starter works great in cold weather no more hot or burned up starters cables or batteries
I bought a cckw to take the bell housing transmission and transfer case out of for my m211 but I kept the automatic thinking a bell housing from a 270 would work on a 302 if I ever needed it . is the 302 crank machined to take a pilot bushing ?
I have spent enough to buy a nice press replacing the the torque rod ends ends on two trailers . the shop that did the work has a huge press . I talked to the man if a 20 ton press would work he said maybe . so I never bought a press . how much pressure is needed to change a torque rod...
you will hook up both lines . the constant air line will fill the tank and may say supply on the glad hand the other should say service this is the one that gets air when you push the brake and makes the brakes work .
when you hook up to this trailer and charge it with air the brakes will apply till the tank fill enough and they will release now its ready to tow . if by chance the air lines get crossed and the brakes apply and stay locked you will have to unhook drain the air tank this will bleed the system...
1954 m269 wrecker lowboy . I bought it from a salvage yard worked on it for a year and a half and added the rear ramps . also had to add a winch to my m52a2 . it has worked out real nice to have the ramps to be able to haul what I need to haul .
one time I turned the truck off to change a tire on m52a2 and went to restart it and about the same thing . I thought maybe the engine locked up . turned out that one batteries went bad inside I was only getting 12 volts to the starter .
hand crank for the Hercules HXD 855 cubic inch 6 cylinder 5.49 to 1 compression . this is in my 43 white 666 . this engine is broke and not running . there is a heavy guard under the radiator to maybe keep the crank from putting a hole in it . this crank would come in handy when working...
