Does anyone know what these hood markings mean?
EXER. 10/14 (Exercised 10/14? - Does it need to be painted on the hood?)
REB. (Rebuilt?)
PRES (?)
DRIVE ON/OFF (?)
I see, these brackets have the brush guard attached at the top and the shackles below.
About how much do the brackets run these day? (before I chop mine up lol)
I have a similar brush guard: like this:
but this front plate:
The brackets that came with the brushguard attach in the horizontal plane and the outer holes fall outside the plate:
What brackets would work with it? (the holes would have to be in the vertical plane, above and below the...
Guys, you see? I am not alone, in fact, here in LA when going out grocery shopping, daytime, you can take it easy and only bring the 5/8” glass, but if you go at night for drinks/ dinner then you gotta bring out the fully armored one with 3 inches of glass…it’s just common sense around here 😆
I love the glass, it looks beautiful and I want to make it work if it doesn’t end up costing almost the same as getting new ones…ideally of course would be to trade the extra RH for LH…I even thought about putting a standard 1/4” HMMWV windshield in front to protect the polycarbonate side on the...
They are tightly sealed and I am sure someone specialized could, but for only 4 pieces it would probably cost more than it’s worth it, each half weighs about 28lbs, so the shipping both ways is another factor.
Oh yes, I like simple...I did talk with them about it from the first moment I heard it and they said that all the windshields they bought for whatever movie(s) were RH side only and everything listed on GP was all RH side.
I think they could be more valuable for someone that needs a RH 5/8" replacement, worst case I could sell two of the RH and use the money towards getting the LH pieces.
Yes, that's the other reason for posting this story, so others could learn from this...cluster...if the item description is vague or unclear, assume the worst because it could done on purpose.
Yes, they can be rotated, but functionally, the last layer is an anti-splatter polycarbonate, in which case that would face the outside instead of facing inside (it’s noted on the windshield which side should be installed on the inside).
Perhaps that wouldn’t be any worse than a regular...
I don't have any exact data and couldn't find any specs on the springs in the manuals, on paper only, it looks like this:
M1165 = 18,2" ground clearance / Base Curb Weight 6,550 lb/ GVW 12,100
M1151 = 17.2" ground clearance / Base Curb Weight 7,500 lb/ GVW 12,100 (however some are rated GVW...
Ok, so I was checking on my EUC status for a M1151A1 I recently got and boom, several windshields auctions pop on the screen listed as:
(4) HMMWV Humvee Windshields - 5/8th Glass, without any other info besides a few pictures with a pile of about 24 windshields:
I ended up winning one bid and...
The springs could also be different, I should check the manual, because some 1151A1s are rated at 15,500 GVW, while the 1167 (also REV) has a 13,100 GVW rating, which in turn may affect the ground clearance by 1-2 inches, as each model has some slight different clearances, and also from 1165A1...
I have not been on the forum for a while, and did the same thing, got a REV 1167 slantback to convert my 1165A1, I always wanted a slantback :) Was thinking to keep the parts for spares, transmission, transfer case, geared fan (that alone would cast a lot to get a replacement), radiators look...
Both, the drain plug and fill plugs are facing the engine front (not the ground) here is a picture from below:
The fill plug is somewhat recessed because of the cooling fins, that’s why it’s not easy to access and requires a very short 3/8” Allen.
