What does the fuel look like in the fuel tank? If it hasn't "jelled", you should be able to turn the engine over without a problem, most of us do and our truckes have been sitting for a lot longer than two years...guess ignorance is bliss...
But do change all filters before trying to fire it.
Yes I do, since last fall. The Ford XM757 5-ton 8x8 built in 1969. Lots of references here if you do a "search". I'm very exited about it too, the ultimate toy for a person with my interests.
It is smaller than the Tatra and has a different suspension, but is very capable never the less. I think...
Chris, those fittings are reusable and you can probably use copper lines if you can't find the right plastic ones. The ferrules would have to be replaced that's all.
Will, with the bumper so far forward I don't think I need the "guard". I'm leaving it off for now.
Jon, I'm working on a dozen different things at the same time and rather clean up the parts before putting them back on. It's sitting on blocks now, which makes it easy to work on details...
Chris, regarding the mounting of the lights, there are several variations out there caused by the bumper extension for the winch.
For some reason the BO light was the first to be moved up and to the side. Originally it was installed inboard of the headlight and probably met the spec with or...
The original design of the M656 series puts the BO driving light inboard, later modifications placed it outside/in line and above the BO marker lights. Confusion set in.
Thanks ACE for that post! It's the kind of confirmation I was looking for, just studying an individual component causes a lot of speculation, if you know what I mean. It also puts the front BO marker lights in place. :-)
Tested my "new" BO driving light on my basement work bench last night. It illuminated the basement like a flashlight would, but somewhat less intense. No problem walking around in that light with the floor and boxes and stuff clearly visible. Things higher up (off the floor) were only visible...
I'm into different applications of the Black Out Driving Light at the moment and I'm wondering about yours, does it illuminate the winch/bumper or the ground ? Looks marginal.
I just received a BO light from Armyman30yearsplus (David) and will be doing some experimenting with the xm757.
Thanks,
Perhaps the date of manufacture will provide a hint.
The XM757 8x8 truck tractor and the XM791 van body remained "X" until they were retired. The manuals even labeled them "X". The only 8x8 in the series that was an "M" was the M656 cargo version.
As explained by David Doyle, I'm still learning too. I'll find the reference in a minute...
Here:
"The FS595B 24084 should be darn near a perfect match for FS595A 24087, and FS595B 24084 is available from a number of commercial paint makers. 24087 is a radically different color between FS595A...
nopics
Let's see some samples, please, I think stencils work well, somehow decals look "cheap". Just IMHO....
How do you get a decal for a (subdued) black star?
