    Airpack rebuild (add pics-4/09)

Re: Airpack rebuild One important thing to remember is to install the U-cup seals with the "cup" facing the higher pressure. DOT 3 has been good to me for a decade at least. :-)

Yes Im Posting ANOTHER Filter Thread!!

Found a better use for the space on the old heater bracket....the M151 heater fits perfectly (a departing gift from Leonard Jones last Fall), just had to turn the motor over and the intake duct will have to be extended some. :-)

Yes Im Posting ANOTHER Filter Thread!!

I feel the need to explain that my deuce is very much a test bed for a number of ideas and projects and D-man's filter installation may not look ideal. I installed it for easy access and vertically to handle it full of oil and it's not a permanent installation. I have sent in a sample of the...

On the camera issue, I always open the battery case when it's not used, seem to make the batts last longer.

Yes Im Posting ANOTHER Filter Thread!!

I'm ready for the hose connections and the "low rider" canisters, shouldn't take long to finish. Installed the differential pressure gauge while I was in the neighborhood.

    Differential oil pressure gauge

Installed the differential oil pressure gauge this afternoon. Couldn't get the plug out for the "After Filter" oil pressure, so I compromised and picked up the "After Cooler" pressure instead. The gauge now shows the pressure drop across the two oil filters and the oil cooler combined. I'll...

Yes Im Posting ANOTHER Filter Thread!!

Progress report (if D-man wrote this, it would be 15 paragraphs long. :-)). 1) No space below along the frame, especially with a winch drive shaft installed. 2) No space on the firewall.... 3) Heater has to go. 4) Used heater shelf to support a custom made bracket This is where I am at the...

    Rear Drive Shaft Disconnect

80% better huh...that agrees with Clinto's post. I'll try it, may reduce tire wear too. I have extra front hubs and can simply replace a rear hub with one of them.

    BRAKE LIGHT

RE: Re: RE: BRAKE LIGHT Thanks BC, look at women for example. :-) Good rant ACE, just try to flash your head lights while driving with the push button switch, don't think there is an easy way. With the 3-lever switch you flick the lower lever from dim to park and back (no locking action). Like...

    Rear Drive Shaft Disconnect

Whichever one you free up, the driving axle will see a big increase in tire wear on that axle. There are several advantages to freeing up the rears but you will need front wheel drive from time to time to make it over little obstacles like curbs, wet grass, slick pavement etc and for that reason...

    BRAKE LIGHT

RE: Re: RE: BRAKE LIGHT Checked two plastic housings and only one of the mounting screws serves as a ground. There is a 50-50 chance of having a bad ground if one of the screws is loose or not properly grounded to the vehicle. So it would make sense to advise that both mounting screws are tight...

Well, it's not hooked up, the linkage is not present. I got answers on this on the pershingmissile group forum and nobody had the retarder operational (this is from people who drove these trucks for years in Germany). Engine braking can cause loss of control on slippery pavement, but is...

    BRAKE LIGHT

Re: RE: BRAKE LIGHT I think Cabell actually meant dielectric grease as in non-conductive. The grease helps prevent corrosion, the metal to metal contact still results from the pressure and twisting action of the components. Using a conductive grease could cause all kinds of problems, bridging...

Yorkgulch2, if it helps, send them to my email addy (super_deuce@hotmail.com) and I can post them. The M656 has the swimming feature, which made it my first choice. Both have major componets made of aluminum and rust should be non-existant. They have lots of unique design features. If you get...

    Southwind 978M heater

There are lots of acessories needed to hook one up including controls, so the value varies accordingly, perhaps from $35 to $250 .

Pipeline Deuce in Minnesota - Ebay

"...usual locked rears" could simply mean that the tandem axles are coupled without a differential (as usual). Is there a separate control on the dash for locking the diffs? I agree with Kenny on the front wheel drive.

2007 East Coast Convoy T-shirts - order up!

Thanks Cabell, I'm not worried now. :-) Wouldn't want people to think that the clean air deuce bellowed smoke and there are other vehicles besides deuces in the convoy, so if more than one is shown....
