Andy,
Check it with known good master 1st. Is it an NTC or NHC..turboed or not? FFC or non FFC? FFC will have a metal suction tube from the pan to the lube pump located at the LH front of the pan, very short. 40-45 PSI cold 15-20 hot idle is normal, should be 35-40 at road speed, hot or cold...
Sweet!!! See I told ya smoke is good! Bjorn, I know you posted b4, is it an LDT or LDS? Good to see that it runs. Does it sound OK? Did you find a line on tires yet? Do you know when it ran last?

Well, My 2c, Most all transit busses have a 24VDC alternator with no 12VDC alt. There are 2 systems on most busses, 12 AND 24 volt. They pull 24VDC off of both batteries, and the 12 VDC off of 1 battery, usually 8D series batteries. The 12V operates the faire box, radios, starting system...
Technically, there's still a protective film on the crank journals and bearings in the turbo. Cold, high RPM starts aren't good, but, that's what generator sets do every time they are excercised..supposedly once a month. I have seen at least 200 engines that have been in service a very long time...

Patrick,
Great to see you made it back home with no major SNAFUs. ADR did a bitchin' job on the bracket for the alt. More things to add to a road trip tool list, vice, some light strap metal and a hammer! Oh yeah, wipers..maybe that was mentioned b4. How about a small convoy?? Two or three...
Mine does the same thing. First stab at the pedal, goes to a mark on the pedal shaft that comes up thru the floor, about 2 1/2 inches from the floor, the brake lights come on when it's almost to that point. Any time after that, the pedal is only 1- 1 1/2 inches from the top of the stroke and the...

But smoke is a good thing. That means it runs! No fuel tank is a problem. Will the tank from the 656 work? Shipping might not be too bad if there isn't any in the USA.
